Nothing like a newly washed and waxed truck! I clay barred mine a week after I had it. Amazing how slick the finish is now! I don't even get it out in the rain for now because I don't wanna get it dirty! (have another car). LOL

That color looks amazing! Did a lot of stuff come off with the clay bar?

where does the grit go when the clay bar runs it over and drags it out of the paint?
im totally scared it just sits there and scratches the rest of the paint as you go.

I have experience playing with playdo in the sandbox with my tonka trucks (yes the real metal ones that cut off finger tips) , so this is a legit long term concern of mine....
Seriously, you've never used a claybar? Some things are perhaps better left alone... Little boys shouldn't experiment with such things... LOL

OH WAIT! I didn't pick up on the sarcasm at first.

It sticks in the clay. It's good to stretch it every so often and fold it over on itself so you have a fresh side. I use the Meguiar's kit. Just do a little at a time, like half a fender or a quarter of the hood. I only do it about twice a year. Most of the crud comes from the lower sides (road tar) and the tailgate (general crud).

Clay barring does leave the potential to leave scratches in the clear coat. I just make sure I fully wash my truck first, making sure its as clean as possible.
Always have a quality spray detailer as you work. If not, mix a combination of water and soap that will give a slippery feel.
I make sure my clay is warmed up. I put it in some water and in the microwave for about 1 minute.
I spray the entire surface I'm fixing to work with fully. Flatten the clay out a bit. Key is to not have the clay and the surface ever dry out. Continually spray while you're rubbing the clay. After you've worked on an area, kneed the clay into another form. this will potentially cold any containments in the clay. work on another area. Kneed the clay more.
If you ever DROP the clay, throw it away immediately, and start with a new piece.
Well, that's the way I do it, and I've always had great results. i've never had any scratches in my paint afterwards. Again, the key is a continual spray of your slick spray while you're working the clay.

Good tips. about what I said. We were posting at the same time.
I use the Meguair's kit in the yellow bars. Mother's makes a kit as well, but their clay is weird...a bit on the synthetic side, and its hard to work with.
