Okay. I know I'm insane....but I was looking at American Track Truck's site (www.americantracktruck.com) and a poorly photoshopped picture later I'm actually kind of wanting to do this for back country winter camping.

Looks good, need skis on front wheels.
Let us know how it goes but most importantly, we want a video!

I emailed the company today for a quote. I know it's a rather unusual setup, but honestly this would do amazing things for winter traction out in the backcountry. There are videos on youtube of 4x4's with them, and the traction is absolutely bonkers.

Obviously no real need to get a set of 4 being a 2WD ranger. I'm thinking a cheapish and practical solution for the front is probably a good set of chains. Skis would be hilariously awesome, though.

People run track in the winter in Alaska, seems to be decent for frozen lakes and trails. I've heard mixed reviews in the tough stuff.

The Grand Tour on Amazon (Top Gear spinoff of sorts) has an episode where Hammond put tracks on his Ford RS and it really shows the weaknesses of the platform.

Granted, there are like 3 major companies with varying designs.

Just just a data point

i tried to google the pic/video of the Chevy that rolled one of the tracks up into the fender well somehow.
it looked like it did alot of damage.
I'm not familiar with how they are stopped from rotating, but clearly they arent bullet proof

id bet lots on user error....

perhaps and highly likely

i would think jumping with them in any manner would be a serious no.
They never let us do anything fun....
