Hi folks, new member here and have been searching the site for answers to a question I have about the steering in the truck and haven't found anything yet so forgive me in advance if I am bringing up an old topic.

I've had the truck just a month and I do not intend on using the lane/steering assist feature, when the majority of the driving will be around town so I have the setting set warning only with no assist and I turn the lane assist off with the button at the end of the turn signal. Driving at slow speeds the steering seems to be normal, turn with just one hand sort of thing however, when speed increases to approximately 40 mph the steering noticeably stiffens up and even making minute steering adjustments just about take both hands, it isn't trying to make any steering adjustments for me and I'm not complaining about it but wanting to understand if this is normal or not. I kind of like the tight steering but again just trying to understand why and how it is doing this with with lane assist off. Thanks for any answers you all can provide.

If you turned it off at the turn signal, it should be all the way off, including warnings.

I also have a Lariat with Tremor and experience the same thing. The owner's manual is pretty vague but I chalk it up to the electronic steering assist being set to stiffen as speeds increase.

I have no Lane Assist feature and never feel any kind of stiffness in the steering.

All of the vehicles I have had with electric power steering get noticeable stiffer as the speed increases. My Mustangs even had a setting for normal, sport and comfort for the steering. The steering on my Lariat Tremor does not get excessively stiff with speed, I would put it at about the same as my Mustang in normal.
