Mounted the faceplate and wired the trailer brake controller yesterday. Fair wrestling match, that. I did end up pulling the stock fascia and side panels off in order to cut a relief for the wiring that runs from the Stedi mount, and to run the trailer brake wires. It looks great, works great...
Hi Eric. I haven't quite gotten around to it yet. I just figured out the wiring diagrams for my two switches today, should be installing tomorrow or Thursday. I haven't tried snapping the back hooks into the panel yet, just the front ones. I'll let you know if I have the same trouble you're having!
Got my Stedi switches, mounted my trailer brake controller in it, along with two switches - one for my backup alarm and one for rear cargo lights (all 3 are yet to be installed...) Here's what the Stedi switch panel looks like. It just snaps into place, no need to disassemble the dash.
Just a heads up - you may want to check this on your truck. The plastic wiring harness anchor just above the alternator has a sharp point that has come in contact with my lower radiator hose enough to wear a hole in the hose. You may want to check your hose! (This is a view from below, while...
I would suggest not filling your fresh water tank unless you know you're going to be dry camping for a few days. You'll save a bunch of weight. If you'll be at serviced campsites most of the way you won't need water in that tank.
Kevreh, I think this is what you were originally thinking of. It's sturdy, but I don't think it would support a bike if you went anywhere off-road.
This is the stock Ford rack that tapers on each side. There's an aftermarket one that's square that might have more vertical supports, that might...
I did that very thing on my 2017 Titan. Kept the nice ride and gave me a 2" lift (to almost level) in the front. Billy's on the lowest setting and a 2" spacer on top of the strut. The purists howled! Lol!!!
Thanks, Tom, glad to help. I don't have an original bone in my body, so everything I've done I've copied from others, too! I'm just glad I can pay it forward, if that's what this is!
Well, now we know why it's called a bash plate. Took the hit dropping into a runoff that cut into the ice/snow/muskeg at work. I was alone and didn't want to have to fetch a dozer to.pull me out, so I approached slowly, and as the tires dropped into the cut I hit the gas to create some momentum...
Thanks for the shout-out, @Jamesb! I did put 1" spacers on with the stock 18" rims because I was worried about the tight clearance between the stock tire and the top of the steering knuckle. After installing the spacers and the new 175/70R18 tires I have about 1" clearance, so the tires are...
Just adding a few pix from today...
The magnetic (color, not metallurgy) letters from Eyecatchers went on today as well. Good quality, great instructions. Thanks guys!
DHH, thanks for your well-considered reply. Perhaps I was a bit zealous (but not overly so ?) in my original post, but I wrote it sitting in the driver's seat at the end of a 14 hour/1200 km day pulling the trailer home, and wanted it to be fresh. And I had had 14 hours to think about it! Lol...
