  1. Ranger has fresh competition...

I actually have not sat in one in person so hopefully you're right and it's bigger than I am expecting. Looking for a vehicle that can carry 4 adults (and gear) relatively comfortable on 2-4 hour trips ideally.
  2. Ranger has fresh competition...

I guess my post was a bit ambiguous... I meant a mid-size supercrew vs. full-size supercrew... ideally I'd like a supercrew that falls in between those two, mainly referring to the size of the cab but also referring to the overall size of the truck as well. Like the F150 supercrew has rear...
  3. Ranger has fresh competition...

As someone who does not yet own a truck but planning on getting one in the next few years, I think the Nissan would be a strong contender for me overall - I like the look of it and it should do what I need it to do. Waiting to see what the next gen Ranger is like before I pull the trigger on...
  4. Using a bed extender for mountain bikes?

In terms of your bike not fitting, is that with the tonneau all the way up (so that it blocks the rear windshield) or just with the first two sections folded back? I assume the latter.
  5. Rangers in SNOW

So how much of a difference do you notice in snow driving performance with the extra weight in the back? Looks like those buckets take up a fair bit of space in your bed so my preference would be to not have those unless the performance was significantly increased.
  6. Trucks are sketchy

As someone who is interested in buying a Ranger as my first truck, definitely think this is an interesting thread. I've driven trucks a handful times but not extensively so not too familiar with how they drive in different situations. One situation that I'm quite interested in is snow...
  7. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

I think I was looking at the specs for the "previous generation Ridgelines" when I said that was an in-between size in a previous post. As much as I hate to admit it, I think that's probably the most appropriate vehicle for me all things considering. I definitely want a real truck to do real...
  8. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

Unfortunately, this is where it gets complicated... my wife is tiny but needs to sit in the front seat since she gets carsick very easily. My father-in-law is the one who needs to sit in the back seat and he's a normal sized male adult. This is basically the root of my whole issue in terms of...
  9. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

OP here again - I think I found the perfect sized vehicle in terms of what I am looking for - big enough to comfortably carry 5 people and still be a proper pickup truck, unfortunately they discontinued it a while ago - the Chevy Avalanche. I honestly totally forgot this vehicle existed but one...
  10. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

I have not been in a Ranger yet so hopefully I am just totally out to lunch on this and it's bigger than I think. I have been in the back of a Colorado crew cab though, which I think is basically the same size... and it's definitely sufficient but not sure if it would be comfortable. I was just...
  11. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

You can still use the middle seat in general for a car seat though, right? We currently have a car seat that has both an anchor option and an option to use the seat belt as well. We have one in the middle seat of our vehicle and use the seat belt and also uses the strap that goes over top of the...
  12. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

True... perhaps I should rephrase. I think the current mid-size truck size should definitely continue to exist (for the reasons you mention) and I also think the current size of full-size trucks should continue to exist because those are useful to a ton of people as well, I just wish that there...
  13. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

OP here - thanks for all the responses. Sounds like it's doable but not ideal for my purposes... I am going to try to rent one on our next family vacation to test it out and see how it goes. Rented an F150 Supercrew recently for a road trip and it was great in general but the size seemed like it...
  14. Ranger crew cab big enough for family with kids?

How many of you guys are using the Ranger as a family vehicle? Trying to decide between a full-size truck and a mid-size. Overall I definitely prefer a mid-size because I feel like full sized trucks are way too big and we live in an urban area and need to park downtown often, but the interior...
  15. MTB Bike pad - Which one do you use?

Holy crap you have a lot of gear. Thanks for all the info. What don't you like about tailgate pads? I don't own one and only used them a couple of times in other people's trucks but I like the idea of them in terms of being simple and versatile. Is it the fact that you can damage your bike...
  16. MTB Bike pad - Which one do you use?

Thanks for the info. Looks like a cool system. Currently have a 2 bike tray rack and looking for something for 4 bikes, but it looks like each option has its pros and cons. I really like the way this one carries mountain bikes but the specific steerer tube thing makes it a bit more complex and...
  17. MTB Bike pad - Which one do you use?

Nice! A couple questions for you: - when you aren't using it can it be rolled back into the bed (while still attached)? Appears that way based on looking at the design. - can you fit road bikes on there or is it essentially mountain bike only? Actually, l just reminded myself what a road bike...
  18. MTB Bike pad - Which one do you use?

For those of you using a tailgate pad with a modern long travel all-mountain/enduro style bike (mine is 29er size L) - how much space do you have between the back tire and then end of the bed? Trying to figure out if I could fit a rolling tonneau cover that would allow the bike(s) to fit on a...
  19. F-150 converts

I think you're right... I know a full-size truck is what I really need in terms of it doing what I need/want it to do, but the thought of driving around a massive vehicle around as a daily driver (going to work, etc.) doesn't sound great to me since we live in a pretty central/urban area. Can't...
  20. F-150 converts

Is a mid-size truck sorta like the rugged alternative to buying a sports car, in terms of it being fun to drive but not overly practical for a wider range of uses? Where I live I see Tacoma's everywhere - was surprised when I sat in the back seat of one first the first time (double cab) and...
