  1. LS1 Swap

Another LS1 swap? Not very original and in a Ford? C'mon, that's just silly. I'd rather see a 3.5L EB swapped into the ranger. The version running in the GT has 650 hp, so the potential is certainly there.
  2. SOLVED: Ranger Went Into Limp Mode, Engine is Only Running on 3 Cylinders

Definitely cool! If this is like the Uconnect app that FCA uses, it's billed as a way to track the vehicle if it gets stolen. But it's also nice to see where the vehicle is when under the care of someone else. Best of luck with the repair, it sounds pretty simple. Hopefully if something...
  3. His name is Steve McQueen

Wow, that looks fantastic! Makes me wish I had one of these. Looking fwd to seeing what's next with your Ranger.
  4. Ford ranger on Grand Tour

I was definitely rooting the Ranger to "win" that review. Seemed more about the adventure and fun than anything close to review. Still though, the ranger looks great and seemed like the best package (despite really liking the Amarok as well).
  5. Is it a mistake to not take the 4WD option?

I think a lot depends on where you live. If you live somewhere that has significant weather and most people seem to value 4wd/AWD, your resale will likely be weaker with the 2wd truck. If you lived in SoCal, I don't think it would matter nearly as much, for example, compared if you lived in...
  6. The next generation Ranger info

Think of it this way: Toyota, Nissan, and GM can all stuff a V6 (3.0L+) in their midsized offering. There's no reason why Ford couldn't develop a similarly sized midsizer that also offers a V6.
  7. The next generation Ranger info

That makes sense to a point. The current Ranger, while very attractive and nicely sized, is both old (so you really aren't waiting that long "for the next best thing") and only has a single drive/powertrain option (aside from 4x2 vs 4x4). As Ford has noted many times, the current Ranger was...
  8. The next generation Ranger info

A new platform with an available Raptor (potentially V6-powered) for the US.
  9. The next generation Ranger info

I sort of wonder why Ford decided to bring the Ranger back right at the tail end of the its lifecycle. The more I hear about the next Ranger, the less I'm interested in the current version. And unless you absolutely must get a new vehicle right now, seems like the better move would be to wait...
  10. Ranger Raptor Headed to the USA!!!

2020s? 2022? So basically, who knows if or when we'll get the Raptor. Well Ford, you lost a customer with your shady timing. Just picked up a new Grand Cherokee SRT. Perhaps by the time I'm ready to get rid of this vehicle in 7 or so years, there will be a Ranger Raptor I can buy.
  11. 2019 Ford Ranger Sightings at Dealerships Tracker & Map

Guess I'm a little late to the party, but finally got to sit in a ranger today. In fact this is the one: http://www.fordofjenkintown.com/new/Ford/2019-Ford-Ranger-philadelphia-302feac20a0e0ae84c1f819dc9f8daaf.htm?searchDepth=1:3 It's a Hot Pepper Red, Lariat Supercrew, 4wd. I have to say...
  12. Cars.com - We Test-Drove the All-New 2019 Ford Ranger (and You Can, Too)

None of that has anything to do with a normally functioning start/stop system and an alert driver. At worst, there would be a very short delay in the car starting to accelerate from the light. Once the car is on though, it's on. And it usually activates as soon as you take your foot off the...
  13. Cars.com - We Test-Drove the All-New 2019 Ford Ranger (and You Can, Too)

Interior? At least half the country isn't covered. I see lots of trucks here in the philadelphia metro area, including the various midsize options out there. I signed up for updates on the Ranger months ago and haven't heard a thing from them. Personally, I think Ford has dropped the ball on...
  14. UPDATED: 2019 Ranger gets 270 HP/310 LB-FT, class leading towing and payload rating!

I think you have realize that this isn't just a 4-cyl with some power. What you feel when you hit the accelerator is torque, not HP. That's part of why Ford highlighted the torque. Now, importantly, how does the truck deliver that torque. If it's like most modern 4-cyl DI engines, you have...
  15. UPDATED: 2019 Ranger gets 270 HP/310 LB-FT, class leading towing and payload rating!

Indeed--the more I hear about this truck, the more I like it!
  16. Official: Euro-Spec 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor Specs Released!

I suppose it depends on what number's you're referring to. Perhaps on a price perspective, it may not make sense. Though with the 2.7t being used on the F150 and Edge, I would think there would be enough room to make it work financially for the RR. You did mention power:weight of the potential...
  17. Official: Euro-Spec 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor Specs Released!

I hope you are incorrect on this point. I don't need either a turbo engine that runs out of steam after 5k rpms or only comes to life after 4k rpms. The only way to get a fairly smooth power band (actually, it's more the torque curve) on a turbo motor is to add some cylinders.
  18. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Hi--I'm Tom. I live outside of Philadelphia and am a huge car fan. It's become increasingly rare for me to get excited over a new vehicle, but once I laid eyes on the Ranger Raptor, my attention was gotten! So I'm here to follow the news on the entire Ranger lineup, initial inventory, and...
  19. Rumor: Ford Ranger Raptor to Feature Twin-Turbo 2.0-Liter Diesel

I don't think you can predict what will happen in the US market based on what is being offered in the ROW. The reality is that the tax structure for small displacement motors in the ROW makes it a far smarter move to do what ford's doing with the ROW Raptor. We don't have such...
  20. No Gas-Powered V-6 Ranger Raptors

Before I answer, the most likely way I will buy a RR will be if it has a V6 EB like its big brother. I would expect the 2.7t as you mention above. So I am watching Ford very carefully with what they release with the US-spec Ranger and the Raptor version more specifically. However, I don't...
