What version is your Sync3 at? The latest build and also the one previous have nasty issues with the "speed compensated volume" under the audio settings at least for me. I had to disable it as it would blare very loud or quiet at any speed. Worked fine on previous software versions though.

I think it might be on but has never successfully "checked" for updates even when manually initiated. That may very well be why it is reporting as up to date though.

That is exactly it. They are not lit up but working. I was the same. Start the car with the remote but only a couple mins. I used the app had 10 mins since start and indeed all the things that lit up after starting were fully on.
