  1. Fuel in oil

One more piece to the puzzle - the dealer replace the purge valve but I noticed (due to it being cold outside) my truck took a long time to warm up. Like 3 miles to get heat. That's a stuck thermostat and maybe the real cause of dilution as it's not getting hot enough. I wouldn't have noticed...
  2. Fuel in oil

Does anyone notice that fuel dilution is worse after towing? I was fine until I towed a 6x10 enclosed trailer about 600 miles on a fresh oil change (400 miles when I started towing). At 1000 miles the oil smelled pretty bad and I took it to the dealer, and he though so too. I can tell I have...
  3. 18" OEM wheels vs 17" on FX4

Thanks, I decided it wasn't worth it. Eventually I want to get better tires and 17"are cheaper and more available. I don't go off road enough to justify bigger tires anyway. Those cheap black eBay hub caps still look good covering up the silver too.
  4. 18" OEM wheels vs 17" on FX4

I have a chance to buy brand new take off 18-inch High-Gloss Black-Painted Wheels (from the black appearance package) and tires for my FX4 with the 17" silver wheels. Tires are the same Hankook ATMs but 265/60-18 vs 265/65-17. Anyone have insights? Tire rack specs state the 18 are 0.7" narrower...
  5. Rears-only: Fox 2.0 or Eibach?

Just did the Eibachs and I actually felt the difference backing out of the garage! It's everything that has been said. You really don't know how much bounce there is until it gone. The other weird thing I noticed is tranny shifting is more positive too, well it feels that way without all the...
  6. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

I didn't but it just shows your lack of mechanical knowledge. Air temp doesn't mean squat when you're driving 70 mph at 1500 rpm with no boost. Oil temps will still be low for your short drive. Not trying to start a pissing match either but you are drawing conclusions about things you don't...
  7. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

Have you seen any motors needing replacement at 37K? Or blown oil seals any *more* frequently than Tacos? No you haven't. It's just not that big a deal, and if it was there would be data, and a recall or class action by now. Been wrenching on all my stuff for 50 years and it doesn't bother me...
  8. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

The answer I found was related to short trips. I only noticed dilution when I was taking frequent 1 mile trips, on longer trips no issue. So I'll change oil more often in those conditions. You guys are putting way too much thought into this. Trading in for a Taco is giving up *way* more...
  9. Rears-only: Fox 2.0 or Eibach?

Was there a consensus yet? Some say the Eibachs are stiffer, others the Fox. Wondering if that matters much with the stock struts. I'm leaning eibach as they are cheaper and have a dust boot. The roost guard adds another $30 to the Fox too.
  10. Anyone run Fox 2.0 or FPP kit at stock ride height?

From all my reading it seems like the real benefit for the front is a slightly stiffer spring (15%?) and the 2" lift. Without the 2" lift I would guess the noted benefits would not really be there. But how many just did the fronts w/o the rears then added rears later to really know how much...
  11. Anyone run Fox 2.0 or FPP kit at stock ride height?

Looking for impressions of anyone running the Ford or Fox 2.0 leveling kits with little to no leveling, which will require turning down the spring preload to keep the rake. Is it worth the effort to use the Fox front struts with no lift or would just the Fox rear shocks take care of most of the...
  12. Topper Shell

An update on Leer vs ARE. If you go back to post #100 and another thread in late 2019 you can find our frustration with Leer building 6' topper for the SCab. They might make decent toppers but their customer service sucks so it's not worth the $100 savings. And to "top" it off I just had the...
  13. Pls anybody knows when Leer will start making the 100XR for 6' bed?

My ARE doesn't leak a drop. Something doesn't look right with the front of that topper. The cutout in mine is rounded, that looks like a hack job.
  14. Anybody planning to lower their 2019 Ranger?

A 2" rear drop leveling kit would be awesome. These trucks are too tall already.
  15. Ordered Eibach 2.0 Coilover @ Peak Suspension

Do these use the same components as the kit with springs that reuse the top of the OEM struts? This one: https://www.stage3motorsports.com/E80-35-048-01-22-2019-Ranger-4WD-Eibach-Complete-Pro-Truck-Sport-Shock-Strut-Kit-0-3-of-Leveling.html A hell of a lot cheaper if they do.
  16. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

Yes an oil test would be the only definitive way to verify dilution but I've never smelled oil this bad before in other ecoboosts. So something is up with this 2.3 L that's why I asked if the other 2.3L have the same issue. I can't imagine they do or it's been going on a long time and that's...
  17. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

That's what I think Phil. Based on the distillation curve of gasoline it shouldn't be an issue, but it is (the upper end is around 210 C). How hot does oil get in a turbo? For those who offered advice thanks. But please understand I'm not taking it to a dealer until I confirm I have an...
  18. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

It's based on but NOT the same 2.3 engine used in the Mustang or RS so thus the question of if it's only Ranger specific. It certainly could be. BTW the mustang and RS are not the same either, I know the heads are different. Those other engines have been around for awhile so there should be a...
  19. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

Injector leaking is not caused by oil. It maybe my problem, but is it a problem only in the Ranger? How do I know? The oil smells like gasoline and has an obvious loss of viscosity compared to other EB engines. I've been working on engines for over 40 years (changing oil on EB since 2015) so...
  20. Oil dilution in Mustang or RS 2.3L ecoboosts?

Neither of those 2 articles has anything on oil type affecting fuel dilution. Oil and gasoline are 100% miscible so the issue isn't the oils ability to resist mixing with gasoline (it can't), it's fuel getting into the oil in the first place. My question is it just the Ranger 2.3 or do other...
