I added the BDS shackles after doing a fox 2.0 lift that more than leveled my truck (slight mod to the preload on the coil overs). I’m very happy with the end result.
We have a ranger and a forester and live in the mountains of Colorado. Both are great in snow (now that I replaced the factory hancooks with BFG KO2s). My wife’s forester has snow tires and that is so much fun to drive in the winter. I’d go with a Subaru and snow tire even though I love my...
This is legit. When the change comes it will be swift for most. I’ll enjoy what is likely my last vehicle I will own powered by gasoline.
Thanks for sharing.
Next safety upgrades: more lights!
Cheap Amazon 7” spot light bars (white and amber) mounted with four 3” L brackets using existing mounting points. Have not wired them up yet but will eventually be tied to my Lightforce Switch Facia. Test fit for compliance with the ACC sensor. No issues.
Safety update: wobble fixed after a road force balance of the tires (slight improvement) and an alignment (actual fix). Of note it turns out the shop that did my initial alignment after my I installed the front lift didn’t actually do an alignment (even though they charged me for it). The...
I did drive it with stock tires and did not notices any issues which would suggest its a tire issue. I appreciate you suggesting I circle back to the tires. I'll follow up with my shop and see if they balanced the tires using road force balancing. If not, I'll head down that road first.
Thanks for the advise. I luckily have a full sized spare on a stock sport rim to match my other four I can use to see if it is the tires before monkeying with my center bearing.
Update:
Legit safely concern that I need help figuring out. After putting on new tires (32” BFG KO2s) the truck has developed a noticeable wobble at 65-70 mph. I had the tires rebalanced and still the issue persists. I can drive past it when I hit 80 mph.
Ideas? Thoughts?
It may be a stretch to claim more articulation… certainly keep the bump stops farther away from the axel (clearly a safety and ride quality concern when you hit those on the trail).
No crash bar mods (that would be unsafe). Moved them to the extent of their range of motion. Close on the rear...
This is a story of sacrifice and altruism. A story of a dad who modified his truck, not for himself but for the safety and ride comfort experienced by his family. Do I enjoy drinking beer and wrenching on my truck with my buddies? Hell NO! I do it for my family.

I have 1” spacers to get more clearance from the spindle when aired down. It’s supposed to clear with stock offset but it’s very very close. Will see if the spacers complicates crash bar clearance. I’ve read on here that I should be fine. One week and I’ll know if I need to buy modified crash...
