This looks to be just a tracker, I bought my truck used and the previous owner installed one. There was an aftermarket kill switch under there too, it was sloppily t-tapped into a handful of the ignition wires. Was a pain to remove, took several hours.
No problem. I couldn't figure out how to use it at first myself, chiefly because the button was stuck and I couldn't figure out that it *was* a button.
Press the TM button down as many times as you need to cycle through the modes, the little rotary dial bit on the outside is just to go between 2H, 4H, and 4L
Any ranger built on 22 August, 2022 or earlier has the defective CDF drum. Which is the common cause of the 10r80 failing seemingly randomly at any mileage. The only fix is a rebuild or replacement with updated parts. It's not guaranteed to fail in your ownership but the odds don't seem great...
if you're careful not to lean on anything in the engine bay, you can reach behind the engine and get to and unclog the drain with a long zip tie. If memory serves, I put my left knee on the battery and held onto the area near the gasket that presses up against the top of the hood.
Interestingly...
I had this problem with my rear defrost. Check if the grid lines across the window are peeling off. In my case they were and I was able to patch them with Frost Fighter 2120 defroster repair kit. It's held up so far about 6 months so I can't speak for the long term, but it seems more robust than...
You got more mileage out of those hankooks than I did. At 25k miles they were pretty worn down. Replaced them with KO2s and have been very happy with the tire for the price point. You mentioned you don’t ever off road so you’ll likely want something with a less aggressive tread, I’ve lost about...
I changed my transfer case fluid a year and a half ago, Just filled it until it started dribbling out the fill hole, been doing great ever since(It’s hard to overfill something that starts pouring out the fill hole when its maxed out). The transfer case and diff are a lot less fickle than the...
If your blend date is in July, seems like you have a transmission from before the revised CDF drum assembly started being used in the ranger (8/16/22 and later). This sucks but at least this isn't an instance of the redesigned CDF drum doing exactly what it was redesigned to not do. (yet...
I second the notion of plugging in the computer with forscan, your code reader might not be reading the ford specific codes. Also weird suggestion, but have you checked the rubber hose keeping your fan clutch from spinning and damaging your engine wiring harness, it tends to break and throw the...
Very happy to see the 2.3l make it to half a million miles with no serious failures. I’m sure the controlled environment was marginally kinder to the engines than the environments some of these engines are actually operated in, but 500k is impressive regardless.
I am also the second-hand owner of an FX4, a 2020 built in late 2019.
1. 2H to 4H and back, just let off the gas and flip the switch. (on a loose surface of course, gravel, snow, dirt etc...). To get into and out of 4L you must be in neutral, the same rule about surfaces applies. -be careful...
Can’t tell 100% from the photo but it looks like you hit the bracket that keeps the front differential in place. I would check to see if it’s loose after the impact. You may have just bent the bottom of the bracket or there may be some hidden damage.
