This is fantastic to see. I have an 22 foot Airstream on the way, with the same wet weight. My dad keeps telling me I'll want to upgrade the truck, but I'm trying to avoid that.
I haven't noticed anything off with my Ranger, or the countless F series my dad has had over the years. However, a friend of mine has a Lincoln that ALWAYS has something wrong with it. Purely anecdotal comment here.
This is the one I ended up going with. I have a XLT, but I had Katzkin leather seats/door inserts installed and I NEEDED to keep that protected. It's held up for the last ~month that I've had it. It doesn't keep the noses off the windows, but I don't have to worry about seats and doors.
My kayak is 12 feet, so itsn't much shorter. I have the CrewCab (so a short bed) with a hard tonneau cover - the LongArm works perfectly for me. The LongArm has slots for a tie-down strap.
I ended up going with the Yakima Longarm. I live in an apartment complex with a low garage height - I didn't want to roof mount mine (though you can use the Longarm as part of a roof mount system, if you want). This is actually why I bought a truck to begin with. I didn't feel comfortable...
