  1. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

I called around and pretty much every shop is saying they're too busy. One dealer said they were booked out until January. Two dealers aren't even picking up. The dealer I took it to originally said they have availability but then when they tried connecting me to a service rep it just went...

Yes that seems logical, but I'm just forwarding what the shop said. They told me once they discovered it was an issue with the PCM they stopped the diagnosis because they don't have the tools to work on it. I've called two other shops and both of them said the same thing, they don't have the...

Thanks for this. Checked the fuses and they were good. Checked the electrical connections and they all seemed solid. At this point it seemed over my head so I took it into an independent dealer. They just called me back and told me that the PCM is fried and that it has to be taken to the dealer...

It came with an new actuator. Thanks for the info, makes sense it would be reverse threaded but I’d probably get stuck cranking it the wrong way for 30 minutes before I realized lol.
  5. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Impeller blades looked fine, no slop in the bearing, wastegate looked fine. I’ll try to get it apart tomorrow for an autopsy and post pictures.
  6. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Turbo has been installed. Once I got it in everything kind of fell into place, reinstall took about an hour. Filled up oil and coolant, started fine. Problems arose when I tried to actually drive though. The truck is stuck in limp mode and is throwing codes. I cleared codes multiple times but...

I ordered all new lines and filters but I’ll check the old screen when I get home and see if it was clogged.
  8. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Awesome! I'm letting some penetrating fluid sit on the nuts for the next two days (I won't have time to work on the truck until Monday) and then I'll try to gently heat them up. Also picked up a ratcheting box wrench and a flex head socket wrench to try to fit in the confined area.
  9. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Anyone have a good method for removing the cat converter nuts? They're a total PITA and the only thing that's slowed me down so far. The service manual has no real guidance aside from some 3D renderings taken from an impossible angle. It's the last thing I gotta pull before I can remove the old...
  10. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

No I assumed by the diagnosis that the turbo was bad that it was the source of the leak.
  11. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Sorry I kinda ditched the thread once I started working on the truck. I'm about halfway through btw. I thought I commented on the low oil pressure. I checked the oil level and it was fine.

Found a couple on FBM that are tempting me ? Gotta focus on getting the Ranger back up though, and depending how I feel afterwards I’ll make the decision - I don’t want to do anything too rash. As much as I hate modern BS I do really love the truck. I just wish manufacturers could still build...

8.5k to 10k. Just going off the oil life indicator on the dash. Will be going with 5k intervals from here on out.
  14. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Awesome. Yeah the shop gave me a full parts list, pricing it out myself comes out to $633, which is $2567 less than the dealer.
  15. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

I'll be sure to post an update. I found the shop manual and the entire removal/installation of the Turbo and all the lines is only 30 steps or so. Should be an easy weekend project.
  16. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Yeah I wish I had taken it in at 55k for the 60k service. Maybe they would have caught it early and I would have been able to get it repaired under warranty. It's only gonna be about $650 if I do it myself so I'm not as worried anymore.
  17. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Yeah I saw this one, this gave me the confidence that I could do it on my own. If it's anything like the video shows it should only take a few hours.
  18. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

An upgrade would be sweet but after this issue I'm already concerned with the reliability of this vehicle. Mo' boost mo' problems. I feel like I should just go back to an 80's truck and ditch all this tech once I get this fixed.
  19. 62k Miles, Turbo needs replacing

Hi all, this is my first time posting on the forum so let me know if this is the wrong area for this. First off the truck is a 2020 Ranger FX4 with 62k miles, I bought it last year. Last week I got three check engine notifications on my FordPass app for "Turbo wastegate stuck closed" "Engine oil...
