  1. WeatherTech Sunscreen WARNING

I found the same fraying on my truck and figured it was the sunscreen so did the same thing, just flipped down the visors. Didnt notice it until after I'd used the sunscreen for a month or two and since I live in 200-degree arizona I was getting the visor wedged perfectly around the windscreen.
  2. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

I had the same problem on 1 of my rails. Looked like the quality control slipped when they cut the fight rail and some of the white plastic had a jagged edge. I filed it down with a hacksaw until the company sent me a replacement set. If you push hard into the foam pads you can take up some of...
  3. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

Concur. If you have a mirror you should be able to see them from between the cab and bed. They're about a fingers length down from the top.
  4. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

Yup stuck with no problem. 112 heat in AZ might change that but for now it's good. For the shims I figured it was better to have a solid latch on the rails and keep the cover centered then have a weak clamp to the bed with a better cover latch. Even with the shims you can still shiftthe cover...
  5. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

I think they want your serial number because they've been making changes to the design. The first rails they sent had a raw cut aluminum end and flimsy prop rod attachments. Their quality control was lacking and rough ends prevented me from closing my tailgate on the right side so they sent me...
  6. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

I found that with the rail shims the rails just wouldnt sit square with the bed so they had to go. If the cover is centered then both latches function fine. It takes a little work to get the cover tightened down with the knobs in the right spot so it doesnt hit the bed light or miss latching...
  7. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

The first rails were just raw, unfinished CNC cut aluminum ends which is probably what you have. These ones have that thin rubber bumper piece. Its enough to not gouge the tailgate but not sturdy against any sort of torsion
  8. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

New rails came in. Still lots of aluminum shavings. These rails are matte instead of gloss (which match the bed rail caps) and the ends of the rails now have a rubbery cap to cover the aluminum ends and sits up against the tailgate. The prop rods are held by a much more secure clip then the...
  9. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

Are you talking from the hole underneath the bed cap? Or the front corners where the cover and the cover rail meet? I live in the desert so I'm mostly concerned with dust right now but I was looking at the fit both in the rear and in front and I see holes at both ends that I could stick my...
  10. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

Called back to follow up on the replacement rails and talked to a different rep. Without hesitation said pull off the angle shims. After doing so it fits like a glove. I had to cut away a bit of the overspray from the bedliner near the tailgate so it fits flush but otherwise it fits great and...
  11. Stock Exhaust Looks Horrible

It's basically just a cut pipe. I was looking at it the other day and noticed that mine isnt even a clean cut either. They did a little work to round off any really sharp edges but there are two spots where they probably finished the cut and the blade moved slightly.
  12. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

That's actually with the bed rail shims. The problem, I think, is the factory installed angle shims that prevent it from sitting flush against the bed rail. I'm still waiting for them to actually come out and say it. You're probably right about the torque - since it's not sitting flush the...
  13. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

New update from Bak. Looks like the angle shims pre-installed have to be removed but I'm still trying to get someone to officially say to take them off.
  14. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

After speaking with then today they sent me a hand drawn diagram basically showing the shim fitting between the plastic bed cap and the bed rail metal. Made since and I inserted the shims in the space and clamped down. The rail still draws downward when the clamps tighten. I'm almost positive...
  15. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

That's awesome! Thanks for all of that info and the instructions. I didnt get those instructions with my kit or the longer shims but I did get the shorter shims and the large foam squares with no instructions with what to do with them. I noticed that neither of your attachments said to put the...
  16. BAKFLIP MX4 INSTALL

Just got my truck last week and had the MX4 ready to go. The install sheet doesnt say whether to use the angle shims but the rails came with them pre-installed. The rails wont stay level which makes me think the shims arent needed on the ranger- the bed rails are pretty much vertical on the...
