I am giving them this coming week to fix it. That would put it above the 30 business days in the shop threshold for the lemon law. I bought it new and it has 4600 miles on it, original warrantee.
A prime candidate foe lemon law.
However, first I want to ask about a replacement Ranger, or...
Well, after 3 days the problem is back. It seems to be brought on by cold weather. After a day the weather warmed up into the 60s, I got it started, and drove it right back to the dealership. They have had it another 2 weeks and still not fixed. I have n Explorer as a loaner.
I may ask for...
Well, I got my Ranger back the other day. The transmission was replaced. At least it was all under warrantee. So far it is running fine but, we shall see.
Well, I picked it up. They didn't find anything. Then the next day it happened again. I managed to start it and brought it back in. After a week the decided it was an issue with the wiring harness in the transmission. They then decied to replace the whole transmission. Ugh.
Still in the...
So, I dropped it off with the Ford dealer. Service called me to get more information on the problems. They informed me that, by disconnecting battery power and resetting the system, I wiped out the error codes that were stored.
Is that true?? In this day and age I would think EEPROM...
I have a new 2021 Ford Ranger with ~4600 miles on it, bought in July.
Driving home the other night, I noticed the above error messages started popping up on my screen, along with the chiming. Also, the gear indicator light "D" on the display was flickering. It seemed to drive ok and I made...
Got it. Thank you.
All seems ok. Ranger put back together, looks like new.
The BC LED ctrl know seems to be behaving as expected now.
I just need a trailer now. : )
BTW, what is the best method for adjusting the braking strength to the proper level once a trailer is first connected?
Do you factor in that the ball will move down maybe an inch or two when you connected the trailer? The trailer weight on the tongue will push the ball down, thus lowering its height.
So, the test light on the Brake signal is not sufficient for the Ranger to think a trailer is attached?
The Redarc BC can detect the test light load.
Hmmm ... seems there is no good way to test this without an actual trailer!
I have a trailer rented for next week and was hoping to test the...
Well, I tried all that and still see no 12V on the 7-way connector pin. What I do is the following ..
1. put test lamp on brake signal pin of 7-way
2. turn on engine and depress brake pedal for > 3sec
3. in manul mode, I can adjust the BC knob and see the light brightness follow knob setting...
Well, I wired a test lamp and all the signals seem to work ... turns, stop, running lights, reverse.
Testing the BC output, the test lamp test looks good in manual mode. In proportional mode I get nothing out on th Brake signal. Of course the BC isn't calibrated yet so, I am guessing that is...
Well, I finished th hookup to the CHMSL and want to test it before closing up all the interior trim. I tried a multimeter but, no go. I think I need a test load (lamp) on the 7-pin trailer connector.
I am confused on which pins to use.
The above posting mentions pin 5 but, the trailer...
Eeeeewwww!
I wouldn't rely on a blooming Bluetooth or Wifi connection for my brake control, while rolling down the highway!
What could possibly go wrong!?
o_O
I think I will try installing the BC myself later today, doing the Ford approved install. I've looked under the dash and found the 4 wires. The under-dash work doesn't look bad. I have had experience dealing with wiring and electrical stuff. The one part I have concerns over is dealing with...
Well, the BC arrived today and I read through the installation instructions. What a PITA!
For testing it out, it refers to using a test light but, there is no talk of what the test light is!
Does anyone know the details on that?
I went ahead and ordered the VKB3Z-2C006A along with a 331-TPS1-003 round mounting plate for the knob. I also scheduled time with my local mechanic for the install, in case I don't have time to do it myself. I trust him more than Ford service dept.
I found the link after some searching:
fuse panel approach
I am not sure which approach to use for the install. In any case, I don't trust my local Ford dealer for the install. I talked to their service dept about the BC and they seemed clueless. I don't want them learning to do the install...
