Mine makes some kind of intermittent electro-mechanical noises like that. It doesn’t seem very frequent but surprising when I’m doing quiet work in the garage. No idea what it is, but the OP’s might sound broken and no idea why it is activating so often.

I’m not unhappy with the mileage. But I think from a practical standpoint the rating system is off and that a more representative number should be more like 17/24 city/highway. Better than 19 is possible in city conditions but difficult if there are almost any number of stop lights or signs...

After my longest one way trip so far, I gotta say I’m impressed with the mileage possible. 142 mile trip with 4,000+ ft. elevation gain at the end. 23.5mpg overall and had a 24.8 average just before the climb from sea level. And that was with about a half hour of traffic crawling on the freeway...

Yeah 50mph on H-1 is ridiculous. Much of the surface streets around here are 45-55.

I think their recommendation is overly cautious. Their own specs say it’s fine up to 32v on the battery side. Your alternator will never spike that high. If I were concerned about it, I would just put a switch or diode in the positive side between the controller and battery. Their own specs...

Cheapo crap I bought years ago from fleabay or Amazon. I bought a handful of each and kept a few the ones that read close to a real multimeter +/- 0.1V. Gave the rest away to friends. Some were pretty bad… like 0.5V or more off.
