  1. Will you be upgrading to a 6G? Why or why not?

I work in Detroit, and I live about an hour away. I see test mules usually a couple times a week. I live right near the Fiat / Chrysler proving grounds.... so I see their vehicles often too. Ford has been running the Rangers around without Camo for months now. Oddly enough, I was in Denver for...
  2. Will you be upgrading to a 6G? Why or why not?

I was parked next to one in Detroit last week... I couldn't see any size difference between the 5G and the 6G.
  3. Will you be upgrading to a 6G? Why or why not?

I agree that lack of quality control could be an issue. I seem to have received a well built 5g.... buying a 6G is a gamble of sorts.
  4. Will you be upgrading to a 6G? Why or why not?

I've thought a lot about going back to an F-150 for these reasons. The interior storage really sucks on the 5G.
  5. Will you be upgrading to a 6G? Why or why not?

I'm curious what my fellow 5G members think about upgrading to the 6G. I listed my theoretical pros / cons below. Pro: - Possible next generation 2.3 ecoboost with direct and port injection - Modernized interior with wireless carplay / android auto - Possible 2.7 ecoboost availability -...
  6. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

Update: Sometime this week I will be crossing the 50k mile line. Depending on how busy I am, I will be getting more pictures of the intake valves. Any bets on whether there will be an appreciable difference from the 25k picture? I'm guessing there wont be.
  7. Is this normal for a brand new Ford?

This is a little bit disappointing for a brand new truck but that surface rust isn't going to cause any issues.
  8. For EV Drivers, Realities May Dampen The Electric Elation

I would hope that anybody buying an EV would do their homework to determine whether or not it fits their lifestyle. I think having a garage and also an ICE vehicle makes ownership much more practical. At the same time, I wouldn't group all EVs together. EVs make a lot of sense for a commuter...
  9. Never pass up a good deal...

Menards excels in certain areas where others sh*t the bed. They don't always have the lowest prices on certain items (exterior doors) and their rebate system is sort of a gimmick. Regardless, I think they still beat out the other guys (Lowes, Home depot). I just wish they carried Dewalt tools!
  10. Never pass up a good deal...

It wasn't that great of a deal... Two bucks a piece for #2 SPF 2x4s. I paid almost $7 a piece when I built a house last spring.
  11. Never pass up a good deal...

2x4s were on sale at Menards... I took all they would sell me!
  12. Tow longevity

Some dealerships are better than others. "Properly equipped" shouldn't mean buying an aftermarket TBC and tearing apart the interior of your truck to install it. Beating a dead horse here but I'm just hoping I don't have to do the same thing to a 6G in a couple years.
  13. Tow longevity

Phil, Thank you for the suggestion. I installed the Redarc brake controller myself right after buying the truck. I had asked my dealer if they could install it and they were unable to come up with an estimated price because they had never installed one. What really got under my skin was...
  14. Tow longevity

More important than any tow rating is understanding the limitations of your setup. It amazes me that Ford is able to advertise a 7,500 Lb tow rating, while at the same time not offering a factory brake controller.
  15. Tow longevity

All kidding aside, you bring a valid point to the forefront. The Ranger will absolutely not tow 7,000 Lbs for 500 miles.... not without stopping for gas at least three times lol
  16. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

Yes that would be great. There has to be someone on here that could help us out with that...
  17. Here we go... She's sprung a leak

The first service rep I spoke to literally had no clue what I was talking about. I don't think he was lying; he was just avoiding having to admit his ignorance.
  18. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

Update: Im at 45k miles now. Shouldn't be too long before the 50k update. I'm going to try to get some better pictures this time.
  19. Here we go... She's sprung a leak

Update: My truck was fixed on Jan 6th. They replaced the "Rear seal" on the front differential and that seems to have fixed the issue. Still not sure why the first one failed but hopefully this seal lasts a little longer!
