Do your research (buyers homework before purchasing). Not all tires or 3peak tires are created equal.
For those that drive winter conditions and live around Les Schwab dealers⦠they sipe tires, giving amazing additional grip.
Also, a 4WD vehicle will go farther than a 2WD, easier every time...
If you have to use a gauge to measure degree of incline, what is the percentage you go, or don't go up the hill? (or just bragging rights?)
Myself after doing this a few times, I can estimate the climbā¦
Do it or don't do it, the ability(safety) to back down an incline if needed, or if I can go...
Well, personal preference certainly plays inā¦
I would keep the Roush truck close to theme⦠a go getter style truck. Doesn't mean you have to beat on it.
Want to keep some sort of value with your limited truck maybe?
What I have done on various vehicles is go āenhanced stockā - just my mantra...
Thanks jdamtb.
It is a Westin Pro Mod bumper bought directly through Westin (more specifically my 4x4 shop ordered it).
The lighting is also options of the kit⦠we used those as we knw they would fit up.
Cheers
TDF, I am not using this truck as a desert runner bump eater vehicle. Easy trail work at sedate speeds, with fair ground clearance.
There is not near enough travel increase to bang bumps IMO.
I have a Total Chaos/King vehicle more suited to that (cycling 11 1/2ā travel all around).
I think...
Topoās Ranger is a pretty trick/custom specific use vehicle.
So I could see a cage stuffed in his cab.
A full race cage would tie into the frame (or tube chassis). A āstreet cageā may have flat metal plates attached to the floor in 4 or 6 points. A street cage may not need door bars to restrict...
I keep it simple also, choosing not to hang lights all over.
I have to change one of my driving lights to yellow⦠I lean to the KISS side.
On a Westin bumper.
Right on TDF, you know where you are at. :like:
Nail it and go! Mpg does not matter when going for the pure power.
I just did the BDS 3 1/2ā lift with the Fox 2.0ās, plus the 1ā rear shackle. I squeezed every bit of the 3 1/2ā out of it to get level this way.
But I wanted taller than most.
It...
Quite the Roush Ranger!
No shortage of upgrades there.
Iād like that power but in a very understated fashion.
I also have 285/65r18ās⦠they are generally a heavy tire. I aim to go to a 275/70r18 which can save you about 10 lbs per tire if shopped well (and about 1/2ā taller). Should/could help...
Seeings how I bought my ā20 Ranger used (Dec ā24) with a level spacer and a heavy wheel/tire combo I started with getting 13 mpg (calculated) local driving with hills around.
I put lighter wheels on saving 15lbs per wheel which I think helped. ā¦Now 15 mpg locally.
16 on the highway where 70 mph...
Yup. Its quite the yearly expense increase to go premium.
Folks get caught up in the peak numbers, which I can understand.
I know in certain outback areas premium might not even be available. I know this from riding motorcyclesā¦
Anyway a modest increase in tq & hp is all I look for⦠and right...
Looks good TopoRanger.
You have 3/4 front or 3/4 rear pics of your truck to give us an overall look of your vehicle?
Looks quite purposeful as an expedition setup.
Beefy
I wont address your tire wheel size per say (plenty of threads on the subject)ā¦
But I will say the 33x12.50 is usually a heavy tire. 275/70 or 285/70 will likely be much lighter if you do your research.
Tire Rack has weights on nearly all tires.
Many donāt care about tire weightā¦
