  1. Towing 4 Down

I would simply be guessing on this. One of the other posters above theorized that (if I'm understanding correctly) if the battery were to die and it would leave neutral tow, the selector being in Park might cause a "bit" of an issue. Of course, that might be the least of our worries, as this...
  2. Towing 4 Down

Hey, Phil. Glad someone was nice enough to flag you down! We can all hope to be that lucky to have nice people around when things go wrong. Did you do the "push test" while you were going through the manual or did you trust it when it said "enabled"?
  3. Towing 4 Down

Even though the install of both the Blue Ox baseplate and the Roadmaster wiring kit couldn't look any easier (based on videos on etrailer.com), this was one area I was not going to save a few bucks. If all heck breaks loose (as in, my towing setup fails), I'm not going to stand in front of a...
  4. Fas-Top Travel Package installed (painful but worth it in the end)

Hey, David. On FB, they just posted about a bike race they were at over the weekend and they posted this: Thank you everyone for coming out to the Otter Creek Bike Race! It was a great time with amazing people! Get $250 off a TRV Enter code: bike $250 off is a pretty sweet deal. Better than...
  5. Fas-Top Travel Package installed (painful but worth it in the end)

Good questions and I really don't know the answer about double parts. I do know that mine came prepared for both, so I didn't have to add nuts into the rails or the extra Velcro flap that holds the topper to the tonneau cover.
  6. Fas-Top Travel Package installed (painful but worth it in the end)

Hi, David. Actually, I did neither as I had no truck to measure. I informed them that my Ranger with Tremor Package, which means 5' box, was built and enroute to my dealership. I knew they had already done a package or two for the 5' box Ranger so I was confident in their ability to make one...
  7. Ford Maverick Pickup Officially Revealed: $20k MSRP, 40MPG, Hybrid Standard

I agree with most of what I've read in these comments. It is a home-run for Ford, when you consider 90% of the "complaints" people have listed are "Why doesn't my Ranger have this???" I also agree with the commenters who have stated that we would expect to see these improvements in the 6th G...
  8. Ford Maverick Pickup Officially Revealed: $20k MSRP, 40MPG, Hybrid Standard

My wife and I were loyal Hyundai drivers since 2002. When that Santa Cruz was at NAIAS and won truck of the year, we were falling over ourselves trying to be first in line to order one. Then, Hyundai went completely brain-dead. I understand they are now finally going to build that thing...
  9. FORScan Modifications

This thread is now 53 pages long, so I apologize if this has been asked. I found references but saw differing answers, especially with regard to the difference between the original file that I saved on my first connection and the "As Built" file that some are saying you download from Ford. I...
  10. Towing 4 Down

Well, I'M not gonna be the guinea pig! I'll just do it the Ford way. So, in my post above, was the sequence as you would have expected (with regards to having to cycle the key on and off to move the tranny back into N after testing)?
  11. Towing 4 Down

Also, I remember a couple years ago reading in a different forum that some Jeep owners would test their transmissions by actually starting the engine and placing the tranny in R or D. Since it was all disconnected, obviously they'd go nowhere and they'd know they were safe to tow. Would this...
  12. Towing 4 Down

I believe I had it "on" still. So, I went out and tried it again. Same results but I did have to cycle the ignition on and off to get the transmission to move from P back to N after my trial. The display never changed from "Neutral Tow Enabled". Is this what you would expect?
  13. Towing 4 Down

Hey, Tony. I just went out and experimented with this, because I had the same question. I parked on a hill in my campground so I wouldn't have to push the vehicle. I pulled the handbrake up and then went into the vehicle settings to enable neutral-tow. Once it said it was enabled (safe to...
  14. Towing 4 Down

I don't know if this would show a problem or not; we always start out after hooking up the toad with my wife outside, making sure all four wheels are rolling smoothly. If the tranny was having an issue, would the tires drag like they would if it was in park or if you left the brake on? Or...
  15. Towing 4 Down

I had the same question. I was figuring I'd have to push it backwards a foot or so, then forward a foot or so. This makes much more sense!!!
  16. Towing 4 Down

    Thanks, Jesse!
  17. Towing 4 Down

Thanks, Phil. Good advice! I've searched this forum far and wide and can't find an answer for this: does the Ranger odometer not add miles when we are towing? My Explorer (2018 Limited) did NOT add towed miles, which is pretty much the norm for electronic odometers, but I just wanted to know...
  18. Towing 4 Down

Piece of cake. It's almost identical in weight to my Explorer so I hardly noticed it. (It helps being in flat country, rather than the hills and mountains.) I have a Blue Ox Avail towbar (overkill, I know, but it was on sale), Blue Ox 2679 baseplate, and Blue Ox Patriot II supplemental...
  19. Towing 4 Down

Hey, everyone. I flat-towed my Ranger Tremor last week for the first time. Everything was flawless, except the power died in the 12V plug about 5 minutes before we got home. I guess the time-out period was less than what I was told! Fortunately, we're in a very flat area and made it home...
  20. Fas-Top Travel Package installed (painful but worth it in the end)

Oh, and I would be remiss if I failed to mention this. When I was struggling at 6:15 pm, Friday evening, holiday weekend, I sent a text to Grant to see if anyone was working or if they had all gone home. I thought ND was two hours behind me but I found out they were only one, so it was 5:15...
