    Its used to unlock the tailgate by the motor and the key, so no you cant delete it unless you want it permanently locked.

    Others have ground down the bolt so you need to use pliers to unscrew it. I was thinking just to use 2 different type of fasteners. Slowing down is your only goal. If they really want it they will just rip it out.

    Man that sux. Im going to take steps to secure mine as well. edit: WOW!!! I just opened my tailgate up and man that is extremely easy to unlock like as was done. Locking tailgate HA what a joke.

    Fun place, I went to Gorman many times. Mostly dirt biking though. Once the you cross the line of mudding there is no going back lol. I bought this truck to use it so I knew going in that it would never be a parking lot princess.
