Mine did this too, just out of warranty. Ford has been beyond unhelpful on the issue. This among many other issues precipitated my move back to the inferior Tacoma. At least it has a reliable motor, transmission, and HVAC system to make up for the other shortcomings.
My engine let go at 36450! I truly think it was a fluke, and Ford replaced it under warranty, but it went ecoBOOM completely stock. Sounds like it was a head gasket failure mixed with some cooked bearings.
I'm actually resigned to think it might just be every ranger. Period. My 2020 was showing symptoms of blend door issues (clicking, slipping, stuck in defrost occasionally, etc..) I think its every ranger that will have this issue. Not just early ones.
Oh boy - I had that one coming. Honestly the transmission was re-mapped for 2020, and mines a '21. Its still a bit lost at times, but they've tamed down the gear hunting quite a bit. It does make its power in the high RPM, but its not a terrible combo. The setup in the ranger was much more...
Yeah, a bummer for sure. Absolutely loved that truck. HVAC Blend door issues, constantly having battery drain issues, and mysterious missing coolant. The tacoma is OK, all of the gripes might be slightly overhyped, but the ranger was still a more fun vehicle to drive. My big concern is: I need...
You win Doug.
No use arguing, we're both stubborn, and I'm frugal - so I usually go the harder route, pound the pavement, buy take offs, etc.. so I'll leave it here, for me - the tremor is a rip off.
But then again, so was my whole ranger. Endless issues and a manufacturer who doesnt care...
Have you swapped to LED bulbs or anything like that, or is it all 100% stock? I'd bet theres a wiring issue for you. Take it to ford specially if you're under 3/36 (or whatever your warranty was/is). I ended up getting rid of my ranger (in part) because of my electrical issues. I started having...
I think this is what that whole post was actually about. It might throw more lumens down closer to the truck, making it "look" brighter, but the light isnt actually thrown as far. So you make the road brighter right in front of you, but cant see as far - from a physics standpoint. Theres really...
You're making my exact point. The $3800 or whatever it costs to upgrade to the tremor package, IMO is a complete waste of money. In the aftermarket you can get the exact tires, wheels, and suspension that you want for $3800 or less, and still have all of your stuck stuff to sell to the highest...
This is kind of a weird mindset man. Like yes, MSRP on the wheels and tires might be $2080, but the FX-4 doesnt come WITHOUT wheels and tires, and the extra set certainly isnt thrown into the bed when you drive off the lot.
Same logic with the suspension, except its a mass produced, mid-tier...
I know I know, this horse has been beaten dead over and over AND I've moved on from my Ranger, but this thread on the enemy site is WELL worth the read for a lot of folks here. A forum member took the time to test an absolutely incredible number of headlight bulbs. He has proved in definite with...
I'll be SHOCKED if fordpass is free forever. Get the people hooked..then start charging...
Its exactly what toyota did with their app/remote start features. I bet ford does it too in the next year or two.
This forum has been splendid to me, and almost everyone on here has been fantastic. I won't be deactivating my account, but I will be logging in much less frequently.
My 2020 had a trifecta of issues right after 36k miles that wouldnt be covered by warranty, or would result in an engine that I...
That dealers ideocracy is immeasurable. The entire point of the maverick is to be an extremely competitively priced compact truck. They're missing the mark! (and the sale!!)
It took me a while, but I ended up trading my brand new Morimoto's with somebody's 60k miles Lariats from the forum here. We both ended up happy, but financially I think he came out ahead a bit.
They can be had from eBay too (I'm sure you've looked) but again, they can be pretty hard to come...
I didnt have any flickering, but didnt have them installed long enough to see long term.
Also, depending on what they're charging you, it might be worth the DIY effort. I've swapped mine 5 times (long story with multiple failed Morimoto's) and ended with Lariats, but can do the full swap in...
Somebody with a brain cell! Praise the lord!!
Drop ins are bad - i've been way too into detail on other threads here but so happy other people are seeing the light
Those ones are popular, I couldnt stand the startup sequence.
Keep your eyes peeled on ebay and on here for lariat take offs. They're out there, and you can piece them together for less than morimotos if you're patient, and they work like they should - every time, every day.
Be cautious with the morimotos - I had them on my truck and they were causing my taillights to go out. Aparently they've "fixed the issue" but on my third replacement set I decided to just sell them as new lights and move into Lariat LED Swap land. No regrets & no issues in the 5 months since...
