I don't think so. I think it mainly uses location. I used it for my entire round trip to Ohio and back putting about 1500 miles on it, data seems normal. I have a 3 gig plan and never burn through it .
I once saw a guy with a load of trellis sections tied down with a single strap on top of a car. I watched as the wind took hold and folded up a couple of them as I passed by. Idiots.
That's something I don't miss about Ohio, all the damn cottonwoods. I remember going fishing and you would reel you line in through all that crap and if you weren't careful it would get all up in your reel.

That's good info. I don't care what my neighbors or anybody passing by thinks of my lawn. It's barely noticeable from the road. I just want to keep it maintained.
I'm keeping an eye on these. I think my lawn is too big though. It's almost 2 acres and there is a lot of trimming with a push mower and string trimmer. A lot of slopes and angles. Takes me about 2.5 hours a shot to do it all including the zero rider.
In your particular case, I think you made a good choice. I kept toying with the idea of an extended warranty especially hearing of the trans issue some people experienced, but opted to roll the dice. Paid off for me. Never looked at Carshield, but I did price the Ford warranty through Granger...
