Based on several suggestions from the group I also tried the tow-haul button in both drive and sport. Clearly, as noted, the light goes out in sport so my assumption is it only works in drive. Silly of me not to have tried that before posting.

Thanks for the point about not using sport mode. Will give it a try although sport mode shifting up and down is more aggressive to begin with and is probably somewhat close to tow mode anyway. I do wonder if sway control is disabled when towing in sport mode...
When tow-haul button is pressed, does the dash light remain on? The manual seems to indicate it remains on as long as a trailer is connected, but the light on my '19 Ranger only remains on briefly then goes off. The manual also seems to indicate the button has to be held down instead pressed...
Phil, My '05 had a full sized spare, slightly smaller than those on the truck, but still identical to the size as noted on the door sticker. Same for my '19 On both the rim and tire diameter were the same as those on the ground but the aspect ratio was (is) different . I did turn the current...
As long as the discussion is concerning the spare tire. Phil, perhaps you can enlighten the group as to why on earth did Ford to choose to make the spare a DIFFERENT SIZE than what is on the four corners? It was the same way on my '05 Ranger as well. Of course the spare never got used but it...
@Sparky
I"m older and at 6'2" also have flexibility issues getting in my Ranger. Looks stupid I know but I put my head in first then slide in. You have issues getting out. Given the minimum height difference between the step bar and the truck's floor I fail to see their utility, but that's a...
I'm going to assume this locker system is a sub-contract from Eaton's system, or is somewhat similar. What is important is your locker is NOT engaged when one rear wheel is spinning. Understanding how it works sheds light on the "why" of that statement. Full disclosure, I'm not sure exactly...
To those that have their dealer change their oil, be sure and ask them if they use "pure synthetic" or blend. I've had dealers tell me it's synthetic but when asked if it's one or the other they either don't know or will tell you it's a blend. If it's blend, consider changing more often than...
Fog lights have a flat toped beam. As important as the bulb wattage is being correctly aimed. Check by driving up to a flat surface such as your garage door and adjusting accordingly.
I've noticed when the headlight switch is in ANY position except the "auto" position the daytime running lights are off. When the switch is in the "auto" position then the daytime running lights are on.
Is this normal operation? It seems as though those lights should be on all the time the...
Alex. WRT draining oil into a "clean" container. Allow some person experience. In the Navy Jet engine oil is changed based on analysis. There is a spec lab on every aircraft carrier. Years ago I wanted to see how it was done. At the lab there was a small tin of small (1/4" x 1/4") brown...
My adaptive cruse control is harder on my brakes than I am. It's one of the things I don't like about ACC. My 2000 Explorer had 200K and the pads were never replaced. Lots of highway miles and looking ahead.
Point of interest. If at some point you may have to replace your rotors... do not...
To those of you installing one of these steps...please report back after using them during the winter when they are full of snow, ice and mud.
Although I really would like a step, I'm reluctant to make the purchase because of winter issues. The OEM Ford step on the F150 in front of the rear...
As a good friend said, "4-wheel drive allows you to get another quarter mile into the muck before you get stuck."
I sold a '05 Ranger 4x4 IOT purchase my '19 Ranger. The old one was very much like the one you are considering save for the 4x4. I installed an electric locking rear axle in it...
Some random thoughts here.
- Ford, the company, is in serious financial trouble at the moment. Therefore it is doubtful we'll see a major re-do with Ranger's next model. Likely there will be some color changes and restructuring of option packages, and some options for America, such as. heated...
Phil, When I first moved to WY 17 years ago we had a real problem with the Mountain Pine Beetle. There were a variety of "cures" one of which was marketed and sold with the name "Wolf Piss." It actually is. I bought some but never used it. I'm very sure it would work against rodents, however...
Go to any AGM battery supplier on line and dig around in their spec sheet. In some AGM batteries the internal resistance is significant. Others are much better.
Have no data about the "plug" that makes the charging system on our Rangers charge like the "old style" charging but that may be...
