Let me introduce you to the term Global Commodity. Oil is a Global Commodity, its price by barrel determined by the total global availability. So is wheat, and many other things.
Then, look at this graph of US oil production by year and let that sit for a second...
For those with tires narrower than stock 265, what is your tire model, load/ply rating and weight? From the little bit of searching I've done, finding a 255/80/17 or really anything taller in the 255 category is 1) rare in many brands, and 2) most often E rated and very heavy. I do like the idea...
For those that care not about Instagram, prefer function over form and want a truly useful truck to operate within safe parameters, this is exactly the type of advice this forum needs.
The first 'lift' I plan on (whenever I actually get the truck I ordered) is a 32" tire. I'll make no decisions...
I just invested in a pair of Milwaukee Packout two-drawer boxes. Stacked vertically they just fit in my Subaru Outback and eliminate a couple bins. I store cooking gear, utensils, hygiene and random camp gadgets (lights/lanterns, mini pad inflator, etc).
I can also quickly pull those those out...
Wonder if the time between order confirmation and VIN assignment/build date started really growing after February.
I got my order confirmation March 21, so 2 months and 6 days with no VIN/Build date. I wonder if that'll go to 3 months with no VIN/Build date.
I guess I could accept whatever...
I await my FX4 order, will keep the Hankook ATMs until they fail me but I too am interested in pizza cutters. Unless those sizes are niche and therefore cost way more, I'd think I could achieve a 32 - 33" tire without lift (??, 33" possible with narrower tire?), while saving weight and increase...
In Subaru land, its well know roof baskets - including Prinsu - are way noisier than aerodynamic cross bars or bare roof. You'd think for the price and complexity of install they'd be quieter but that's apparently not the case. The Instagram crowd does not mention this when showing their ornaments.
Somehow never got stuck in my late teens, early 20's when I didn't know anything about offroad technique... in a 2wd Mazda B2200. Went through gnarly mountain passes in the snow with studded rear tires or chains and a couple sandbags in the back. Camped with my buddies down nasty unmaintained...
I'm 6'4" and perfectly happy in a tent. I've got my ultralight tent for backpacking but my newer pride and joy for car camping is a Gazelle instant popup tent. Its a beast packed up, 8" diameter by 68" long, 30 pounds but quick deploy. I have standing head room in the T4 but they make a smaller...
Valuable intel, you should share this on the 'Support Group for Those Waiting..' thread. We're all trying to make sense and detect patterns of time between order date, VIN/Build Date emails, build schedule and finally delivery.
Around winter and the new year, it seemed folks got their VIN email...
@RobRobRob thanks for the update, very good to hear. I started a similar post recently. From posts here and in exhaustive research, I've found no trend lines of real world failures for the P rated Hankook ATMs.
I'm not discounting anyone's feedback, but I've found only a couple anecdotes on...
Just a reality check on LiPo4 vs Lithium Ion.. I too anguished over this until I did some simple math.
Jackery (older Lithium Ion) can be fully discharged 500 times, at which time the battery will have degraded 20%, but still operate at 80% of its original capacity.
That's 500 camping trips...
As I understand it, many if not most dealerships make most their money from the service department anyway. Take away the new cars sales, keep the service department. A dealership owner may not like that but I don't care about them.
Auto sales is just about the last remaining shenanigan-filled...
I paid no deposit for my order through Awesome Ford of Chehalis, WA. They told me if I back out, its just gravy for them - they get a truck on the lot they might sell for more than I would've paid, straight MSRP minus incentives. There is zero downside on their end, not sure what the deposit if...
Agreed. I didn't grow up in a camping family but started doing so with buddies in high school. That progressed to backpacking. In the 90's, there was no internet to learn from so I suffered through all the rookie mistakes, not knowing anything about gear or technique. I was backpacking with a 70...
I think most new campers will find adequate comfort in a budget Coleman tent and 4" inflatable of the rack at Target or any sporting goods store. I'd never considered a cot until I slept in one for a week on a Grand Canyon raft trip. Cot plus 2" inflatable was very comfortable. I sleep just ok...
