TBH I haven't watched this particular video, but I've seen a bunch of theirs in the past. The problem also is there's not a lot of reviewers that take the trucks beyond a gravel road. I do agree, they should be educating as they review. Some of their videos they've explained the benefits of...
In a way thou, isn't it kind of a good thing? Being an average off-roader you get a review from the perspective of most buyers. Sure you can have a professional push it to it's limits or the Stig put down some impressive lap times. But then you'll get inexperienced drivers hopping in and...
@Floyd I'm not disagreeing with you, all RWD should come equipped with some form of LSD. Ford isn't totally ignoring the 2wd, they do offer the FX2 package which give you the e-locker & off-road suspension. I get that you're more on the street/performance side of the fence, which is cool. A...
This is one thing that bugs me, lack of 1 touch up/down. Out of habit I used to just flick up as I pulled in my driveway. A few times I've parked with the windows down not realizing until getting out.
@Floyd I can understand buying 4WD without the intent of going off-road. In Canada we don't have a 2WD option for the Ranger. I had a 2WD F150 with a LSD that would get wild in the winter & a manual 4WD Blazer with open diffs that struggled to get into my driveway without 4WD (stamped concrete...
My '99 F150 had a clutch type LSD in the rear and would light up the tires like no tomorrow. But it would go full Tokyo Drift in the winter if you weren't careful. Had to put like 400lbs of salt & sand in the bed to bring it under control.
Chevy Colorado ZR2 has selectable front & rears. But...
The G80 is an auto locker, but not a Detroit (or lunchbox) type. Detroit's use a spring loaded toothed assembly. A G80 has a spinning mass that uses centrifugal force to push a latch that engages the locking pin. From a durability standpoint, a lunchbox is much stronger. G80's because of their...
The Z71/AT4 package on the Colorado/Canyon come with the Eaton G80 rear diff.
GM & Chevy both use the Eaton G80 in the rear. They're good diffs but I've heard stories of them grenading when stressed.
Torsen isn't a true locker, it is better than an clutch pack LSD for off-road use but has its...
An e-locker will behave like an open diff under normal driving conditions making it more predicable. An auto-locker will go full lock with any slippage - in snow, icy, or slippery conditions it can be unpredictable.
Been having some issues with our iPhones connecting to CarPlay lately too.
XS Max on 15.0.2 & XR on 15.0.1 both having issues connecting (or staying connected) to CarPlay. Thought it was the cable at first, swapped with a BNIB cable but issue persisted. Connected & worked on the drive out...
Had an ā02 FX4 I picked up in mid 2019 that I was gonna build as a project truck. Ended up needing more work than I thought so sold it to another Ranger fan for parts.
Kind of want another from this gen.
Check out CK Wraps on YT. He's got a ton of instructional videos & how to wrap specific parts with different brands. I used his videos to get a handle on wrapping a few bits on my Golf. First attempt looked like garbage but a bit of practice I managed to get it. Two biggest take a ways are...
I recall seeing there are 2 activation modes, haven't tried the other mode since the default functions like my VW's. Having the fogs come on when turning on dark roads out of the city is nice. Though I did find them more useful in the city on my Golf which had mediocre halogens.
