the black and blue connector (my antenna is the same as yours, connect just to the passenger side to a matching black and blue connector, just a bout 7 or 8 inches from the hole in the roof. If you are looking from the back window they are right there.
Yup! I marked a line on the wall for the cut off before I made any changes and where I had the truck parked. So I can pull to the same spot and adjust. the rake is still there, marginally reduced from stock with the taller rear shocks on.
Just did my first test drive! Its plush! No more weird harshness from the rear going over bumps or washboard roads. The Eibach Stage 2R shocks in the back help as well, but the springs were a big change, more than I expected!
Today I did my first alignment! Using a camber plate and Toe gauge I designed myself for this.
Got the front end aligned after raising the Eibach suspension 1.5". Also found that I took my truck in last spring for an alignment seeing the insides of the front tires burning down... they never...
Also, pics of my test welds - the first real welds I've done since I was in High School almost 30 years ago. A few different techniques used there to see what was working and what was not.
Something funny - I just bought a used Honda CR-V (2009) and the old lady who was selling it mentioned the antenna was broken. I looked at it and it seems she did EXACTLY the same thing I did just to a lesser extent.... I repaired it the exact same way I did the ranger only without painting...
I replaced both rear springs on my FX4 with Tremor springs, raised the front 1.5" via the Eibach coil overs I have, Aligned the truck with some tools I designed myself (I am going to sell them on JK3D.us at some point once I work out a few small things from this install. And Installed the MBS...
Well, Its over! The welded spring held up for close to 700 miles and I got my Tremor springs in hand and installed!
The weld looked just as good as it did the day I put the spring back on the truck!
New tremor Springs:
Installing the tremor springs were easy, I didn't realize the driver's...
Possibly not, but I didnt want ANY chance of rust starting. Belt and suspenders when it comes to these kind of repairs, I dont want to do them again :)
Not as easy that is for sure. you'd need to drop the whole headliner at that point. (or fold it down aggressively and deal with any creases that creates? You ... could if you were able to work in the blind, reach up from the back seat and get there without dropping the whole thing... but it...
If you get a used truck with the Ford Gold certified pre owned warranty, its 7 years/100K miles on the powertrain. This is what is keeping me from doing a transmission pan/tune... If/when the 10R80 takes a dump, I want no question as to warranty coverage.
Leaf is still holding up close to 3 weeks later... getting the replacement spring has been... taking for ever.. and is still a week out. Some of this is due to 2 holidays happening around the time I ordered the replacement, some winter storms, but also it seems just general slowness on...
And... as a bonus if you want to see how this happened:

(video is out of focus, but you get the idea).
This happened minutes after I was done putting the rear leaf spring back on after welding it together when it fractured. (As seen...
So update on this post since I just got this all repaired in my garage with minimal tools and expense.
Headliner:
So all I did was remove the rear seatbelt bolts, pulled the C Pillar trim back a bit, then carefully worked my hand under the back of the head liner to pop the 2 clips out that hold...
All Fixed! tested it with a deluge of water and good to go. happy this turned out easier than I feared! Tall antenna on for now until the stubby gets in.
So what I ended up doing was just pulling the c pillars down, and just pulled the back of the liner down enough to get my hands in there. I did the entire repair from the bed reaching through the rear window :)
just got the antenna back on, with the RTV sealant under it. Seems my hammering...
So this is what I started with:
I went to Harbor Freight got some body work tools, some 2-1 primer touch up paint, and some permatex black RTV. And went to work :)
Only took me about 15 min to get the C pillars pulled back and then drop the rear of the head liner enough so that I could...
Bringing this thread back up from the dead ;) I had the same thing happen, and mostly the same damage. Given its on the roof, I am going to try and fix it myself to the best of my ability. Some black permatex, maybe a few taps with a body work mallet from the bottom, and send it :) IT...
