This is what I was worried about, but even if it takes another 30k to resurface I'll still be under warranty. If it's any immediate issue, I should know much sooner. I first got the CEL going over a mountain pass at like 10,000' and 0F, so I thought maybe it was a contextual issue. Cleared the...
Nothing exciting but I picked the Ranger up from the shop for its first non-routine maintenance item today. Threw a P0420 and the dealership replaced the catalytic converter under warranty. They couldn't say why it failed at just over 30k miles, but apparently there's a TSB (22-2245) so they...
I'm going to echo the folks saying it was probably stuck in 4WD and binding via the transfer case. In roughly 30,000 miles I've had two occasions where it indicated 4WD off but it was very clear, even on a relatively wide turn, that I was getting some binding in the drivetrain. Once coming out...
Got my new OBDLink MX+ installed and dialed in. The proprietary app is a little clunky, but doing the job so far. Still considering dropping the $5 for Torque Pro though.
I took my bone stock FX4 over the rockies on a whim to fish the headwaters across the continental divide. Everything performed great aside from a puncture at about 12,500' as we were bailing out from a hailstorm. Granted, the trail was covered in pretty sharp rocks and the Ranger had a decent...
Silicone spray on exhaust hangers helped, along with hitting other obvious bushings and the like. Pretty sure I just smoothed it out while everything broke in. Haven't heard squeaking in a long time, going on 15k now so if your problem was similar to mine don't give up hope
Glad I found this thread, I'm very happy with the STX as it had everything i wanted and not too much extra (could have done without the carpet inside and running boards but I still saved a lot of $). Here's mine, a '19 STX FX4 that I drove 3 hours to get since all the dealers in my area only...
Hey folks, thanks for your input and apologies for taking so long to get back to this thread. Life got busy and I had to finish framing up a house and moving back home to Arizona, but i have an update. The sound got louder so i was looking over the truck and when I shook the exhaust I heard a...
Thanks Phil, this sounds like a great troubleshooting method that I will try out when i can, and i think will come in handy in the future as well! If I can't sort it out I will stop by the dealer next time I head into the city. My old S-10 had a terrible squeak in the rear window that I...
Hi all, i know this is a longshot but I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and/or can share some insight since I'm a few hours from the nearest dealership. I have a 2019 STX w/ FX4, and have been hearing a squeaking that sounds like it's coming from the rear when going over bumps...
I wouldn't be surprised. They always seemed to have contempt for us non pink-jeepers, like never backing off the trail in a tight spot even if it would be easier for them. Oh well, that always made for a good opportunity for us to show off our rigs and driving to their passengers lol. I remember...
I was pleasantly surprised today when I came out of the market to see a nice lariat parked next to my humble STX. I've been working a construction gig in a small town (that seems to be crawling with Tacos) since I got my Ranger, so this was a nice first for me.
Wow Shnebly must have deteriorated a lot, I remember doing that drive in an '83 Tercel back in the day. Also used to love driving my stock S-10 Blazer around Broken Arrow with all the pink jeeps on 37's lol
Does your Ranger jerk around a lot in 6th at those speeds? I was a little concerned the 1st time mine went to 6th at between 20-25 mph, probably 1300 rpm or so, but it never lugged on me and a slight bit of gas pulled it up to above 1500 rpm without downshifting or jerking. These engines have...
Wanted to get some fresh air yesterday so we took the truck out for a tailgate picnic, does the ocean count as "stuff"? Well here's my STX parked next to it anyways.
I'll be moving back home to Flag after 5 long years in California and im looking forward to having the power to make it back up the hill stress-free after trips to the valley. Before moving i had an old yota that was great offroad, but climbing I-17 with a 22R turning 32's was no fun. Also...
Used it to take a load of junk to the dump. There were only 2 of us dropping off, and the other guy was in a nice old blue Ranger Edge. The guy working there was real keen on the 2019, asked a ton of questions and couldn't take his eyes off it. It's nice finally having a truck that turns heads...
Loved having them on my '87 XJ Wagoneer, that was before I quit smoking so they really came in handy. Haven't really felt the need for the vents since, but I do still think they're neat.
