Yes, it made a big difference. If you get one I suggest you watch a you-tube video on installation. The instructions that come with it are rather worthless.
The stock mirrors don't work with a big trailer. I do not like the clip on ones as they vibrate too much. I really like the door mount ones, stable and they stick out beyond the stock mirror so all the sensors continue to work...
I've pulled a Grand Design 18 RBE about 4000 miles now. Yes, it started out a bit squishy. Have an E2 WDH that works well. Replacing the stock shocks with Bilstein made a world of difference. The Hancook Dynapro tires are crap IMO. To fully get rid of the wobble I have to run them at 50...
Jerry cans and transfer tanks, etc are all good, but I hate dealing with that stupid little funnel behind the seat. If it had a normal gas cap that would be one thing. But to have to use the funnel and then bag it or clean it or whatever so it doesn't smell up the cab is just a pain.
I totally agree with everything you said. As to your complaint #2, I have had great luck with this mirror (link below). Not as handy as a built in extendable mirror, but it works much better then the clip on kind. Plus it sits outside of the factory mirror so it does not interfere with any of...
I have an 18.5 ft that's 8' wide and it seems to work fine. I wonder if it has to do with the spacing between the truck and trailer box? Mine has a fairly long tongue and the E2 hitch puts the ball about a foot back from the bumper.
My focus is on the functionality of the truck now. I didn't buy this truck as an investment, I bought it to tow my trailer. I couldn't care less if it adds or decreases value someday down the road when I have worn it out and have to replace it.
18ish gal tank taking 16 gal to fill. 11.5 mpg. 2 ish gal at 11.5 is not much past the 20 mile to empty calc. I wouldn't call this a LOT of spare fuel.
Hey Tyler,
I love this truck. Have about 9,000 miles on it with probably 6,000 of those pulling a 5,500 lb trailer. I have had zero problems with it. No gas in the oil even though I work the engine pretty hard when towing.
Wow, I'm feeling lucky. I took delivery of my 2019 FX4 in May of 2019. The ONLY issue I have had with it is that the code to unlock the driver's door was not in the glove box. They couldn't figure out how to pull the code so the key pad had to be replaced. Everything is tight, no rattles at all.
I pull an RV where I get 10-11 MPG. Thus my range is 180 mi max and 150 with a comfortable margin of error. That isn't much if I am camping in Eastern Oregon where gas pumps are few and far between. The goofy little funnel that I must use to pour a jerry can is a pain in the ass and then has...
2019 Imagine XLS 18 RBE. They call this an 18 footer, but the tape measure says the box is about 19' plus 3' of hitch so 22' hitch ball to bumper. With a full tank of water and propane and all our other camping crap it weighed in at 5300 lbs. Ranger pulls the hills with this trailer very...
I tow at about 5300 lbs. Stock engine has all the power it needs, even in the mountains. Initially had some sway, or at least a "squirmy feeling in heavy cross winds. Installed Hellwig rear sway bar, blew stock tires up to 50 lbs and fine tuned the E2 WDH. That did the trick. I can still...
When the truck has been sitting for a spell and then I open the driver's door, there is a Star Trek like sound that comes from under the hood. What is that all about?
I haven't had any problem with my dealer. I ordered my Ranger in October 2018 but it didn't arrive until early May 2019. I have never activated the ATT hot spot but the truck does connect to Wi-Fi when in my garage. I just used the complimentary first oil change and still have 42,000 ford...
