Please Check or have checked your mass air flow sensor.
I had an S-10 4x4 (P.O.S.) getting 12mpg in town & on the road. Took it to 4 different dealers in NC&GA. They all said "ain't nuttin' wrong with yore S-10 'Boyh' ".
Went to Auto Zone, bought a MAF sensor and told them what I was doing...
A 2019 Ranger 4wd with the 10 sp trans and 28K miles.
Is there a way to have 10th gear hold longer, say down to arouns 40mph vs. 55 mph?
Also skip gears upon acceleration eg start at second and skip to 4th then to 6th?

Inspect the engine after the head is pulled. If the cylinders are not scored or chaffed, you should be ok. Might want to get a layered gasket. What is the OEM Made of? That super thin stuff? Get one if you can that is copper. They have a little "cush". Or...

Thanks for your information on the lowering the Ranger. I think if just the rear is lowered , it might "squat it"? Don't want that.

I'm looking still at machined 6160 Al saddle perches for the flip and thru bolting and clamping with a 1/4" thk rubber cush between the flipped tube and the spring perch. Not sure about re-arching though...
