This seems to be the most logical answer. This topic comes up every once in awhile, and towing - hills seems to be in the equation. The camera system is calibrated and I would guess you are correct in that the mixture of the terrain and the trailer pushing the nose up leads to a situation...
This happened to me today at 2800 miles. I drive every day but not far, but should be enough to keep things charged after 6 months of the same routine. Came out of the store and truck was cold dead. Luckily had the NOCO charger. Hooked it up and after about 30 seconds it came back to life...
Putco is largely way way overpriced. I don't say that often about companies as I can value making a profit. But you could piece together your own system for 1/4 the price by going to superbright LED's and getting a waterproof LED strip light, aluminum channel, and a PWM bypass dimmer (brake...
Glad to see your back in business. They can still tap the brake light from there or the trailer harness. Just use a separate power source and the brake light as a trigger for a relay. Multiple other ways of doing this safely without drawing full current for the lights on the dedicated BCM...
It's generally a bad idea to draw excess current from a component through the BCM. Especially LED's without a constant current driver.
You could draw power from the rear bed lights / power connector (fused) and use a relay tied to the brake lights. That would achieve the same result. Power...
Yes. Depending on the situation, key left in "ACC", etc. No change would be observed. Just highlighting in order for the BCM to reset a full key on off cycle has to be done. I'm assuming this is a power saving feature.
When I say BCM reset its actually a restart of the computer.
I'm not aware of any documentation on how to do the reset via FS. There are numerous circuits / counters within the BCM. How it was explained to me is there is both a manual and diagnostic checklist that has to be performed before the circuit can be reset. You would have to find the bits...
To reset the BCM (not a full dealer reset as that is done programmatically) you need to do a full key on off reset. Key off and allow the power hold feature to end. This typically takes 5 minutes. Then turn back on and if the BCM circuit resets the lights should work. Hopefully its just...
There are no fuses for your issue. The lights are fused via FET's in the BCM.
You could and should before you take it in for service disconnect the topper light connection at the brake light(s).
The BCM may reset assuming it hasn't triggered enough faults to require a dealer reset. The...
There are very few setups where I like black rims. This is not one of them. That much lift on a tiny truck, the black rims with the exaggerated dark wheel wells, painted fender flares - bumpers to match. The truck looks ridiculous. Maybe its personal preference and taste, but whoever did...
I wouldn't be surprised if the signal wires are non fused as there would be no expectation for a large current draw. The addition of salt creep into the housing (increased conductivity), multiple power leads, small gauge signal wire, and most likely a hardened PCB design on whatever module is...
The vehicle has a power hold feature for when the vehicle is shut off in order to run diagnostics and update adaptive learning tables. It’s also why you should never disconnect the battery until the power hold has completed. It’s all in the manual under the battery section.
There could be multiple reasons why the FC stopped working. I think you can bypass this if it happens again by going into the menu system and turning off pre-collision temporarily or adjusting the sensitivity settings.
As to the why? Could be multiple things such as a dirty camera or the...
It's always a good idea to keep a backup in the vehicle for critical bulbs like headlights. Cheap insurance if you will.
As @Trigganometry mentioned the fans are there to aid in cooling the heatsink. Not every design requires a fan, but in this case due to the size of the heatsink most likely...
