The glass shop was super nice and said that yes the top driver side of the windshield sunken down in the frame about a quarter inch compared to the passenger side wasn't right. While they couldn't explain why it was like that, they agreed it needed to be corrected and will schedule a redo next...
That looks like a nice little unit. In my case I like to charge the phone while driving because I listen to audio books so the phone is plugged in anyway. Still would be convenient otherwise.
Yes it has the Ranger logo at the bottom.
Chances of the glass not being correctly manufactured are extremely slim, and chances of the cab frame somehow being tweaked are zero. Something like that would be completely obvious in other misalignments,
The old glass was set perfectly. I went back...
Warranty... That would be nice.
The automotive glass shop I've been going to for years that has always done excellent work did a sloppy job on the Ranger. It's cursed, or I'm cursed. Either way.
Didn't notice the problem until standing in front of it tonight. The top of the windshield on the...
I take it the Tremor springs are multi-leaf? Looked into multi-leaf springs before installing the shackle lift with the stock mono-leaf. Occasionally I tow a tandem-axle trailer with a side-by-side, but only once or sometimes twice a month when the weather's decent. Up to now it's been with my...
In that case you would think the sag would be on the passenger side. My measurement is with a quarter tank of fuel and no driver. So with an additional approximate 90 lbs of fuel, there will be additional sag. Then add a 200 lb driver to the same side (obviously a passenger would help balance...
One more small step. Got the bumper adjusted decently and the fancy red tow loops mounted.
Next will be to try and see if the OEM lower air deflector can be mangled to work with the Rough Country bumper. The bottom front of the opening aligns at about the middle of the grill I made in the...
Not sure what the manual says but basically window down and hold switch for 5 seconds, window up and hold for 5 seconds and there you go, auto works. Thanks for mentioning the info.
For me it adds navigation, which my Ranger does not have. I've found navigation very useful in my other vehicles.
Many carmakers no longer include maps and navigation in their vehicles unless it's a requested option because Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are popular and include navigation along...
For devices running the Android 10 OS and up, you don't launch the Android Auto app anyway. It just runs in the background and starts when it detects a compatible connection.
I like the dock idea. Problem is I use a full covered case and it would be a hassle to remove it then install it again...
You guys aren't going to believe this.
First though, the new body shop got the frame rail angle corrected. There went another $547. When first looking at it, they mentioned that the rubber cushion between the frame and body mount looked stretched. After they adjusted the rail to its correct...
Thanks. I'm one of those people who tries to see projects through to the end, especially with so much personal investment. Can't say I didn't want to push the thing off a cliff at times, though.
Even with the parts problems, a competent body shop would have made things so much less stressful...
The cable is fine. It's new. As mentioned previously, the phone displays "Android Auto Connected" when the phone is plugged in. It's just that nothing changes on the dash display. That said, trying a different cable is a logical diagnostic step.
Android Auto is already active on devices running...
That's interesting. I wonder what the point of a reset for the auto window function would be. Have never encountered that in any of my other vehicles. I noticed the start/stop isn't working either, which is fine.
I don't own any "charge only" cables. They've all been tossed.
Yes I've plugged the phone into the USB ports and "Android Auto" is displayed on the phone. I loaded a "Sync 3" compatible app on the phone and the 'search apps" function still couldn't find it. Basically nothing changes on the...
Found the reset quickly and discovered the super slow WiFi upload after being more patient. As noted, it appears I have a downgraded unit so I'll have to install something different to get full nav and Android Auto.
Looks like I have a downgraded infotainment unit. No navigation. Tried to upload an update with a map and got an error. It appears that if I want full Android Auto and navigation then I'll have to upgrade to something else.
