  1. Tow package and Trailer brake controller install

Totally agree that proper trailer loading is key. ...But "stuff" happens and I think it is better to be prepared for it than not.
  2. Made my own tie-downs

Am I selling these? SURE! $500 ea and I will even sign them for you! ? It was easier and faster to just make them myself than to source them from somewhere as I used scraps lying around. Plus I like making stuff and welding and this was a good excuse...
  3. Tow package and Trailer brake controller install

No issues with accidentally hitting it at all. Good to have ready access in the event of a trailer starting into death wobble, but I have yet to tow with this rig myself. I tow much less often than in years past, but have an occasional need, thus wanting to be prepared with the controller.
  4. Made my own tie-downs

As I have read about the continued de-contenting that Ford has done the one casualty that mattered to me was the mid bed tie-down points on the bed sides that were AWOL on my '23. Ended up making my own. Some steel rod (3/8" IIRC) and some 1/4" flat stock. First step: heat up and bend the...
  5. Towing WOW

The bigger Uhauls have surge brakes. The smaller ones do not have brakes at all. I really wish the bigger ones had electric brakes, but I know they do surge brakes as the lowest common denominator as not everyone will have a trailer brake controller.
  6. Smoke from Headliner using remote start

There is the heater for the camera window on the windshield up there too. Not in the corner, but it would be something higher power. Just because the smoke is seen coming from the corner doesn't mean that is where it is being generated... Pull that headliner and look for the burnt stuff!
  7. Slight Movement After Remote Start

What is that color called? It is very cool, as several have said
  8. Ford Pass invasive requirements

The Datalluminatti will come for you!!! ?
  9. rear door stuck closed

I was wondering how cruel of a friend you were to put a person in the back seat of an SCab... Now I see!
  10. Mice

Yeah it would be nice if they screened off the obvious ones like the air intakes for the engine and HVAC. This is such a common problem on ALL vehicles that it would sure be nice if they pre-empted it. Mice are everywhere and even city people have issues but those of us in the country run into...
  11. Mice

Been having mouse problems in mine. Tried for a few months now to trap it/them but for some reason, they just aren't biting right now. So along with my first oil change, I tore the truck apart to block the access points. I did the engine intake right when I got the truck as I have BTDT and...
  12. towing capacity question

I did the upgrade and wrote it up here. Search on my name and you will quickly find it. It was just adding the hitch part and the wiring harness for the plug. I also did the brake controller at the same time.
  13. Ford Pass Update

V 5.0.2 on Android here now. Seems to work fine. Odd that they removed the fuel gage, but it does show the range remaining which is more or less the same thing, in practice.
  14. Tow Hitch Options?

I went the Ford route to add the hitch and the 7-pin plug to the bumper. It is swapping out the bumper substantially but is not terribly hard. It just takes a couple hours or so. You can search for my thread on it. Parts listed above by LB tremor. Attached is the instructions if you are...
  15. 5g vs. 6g comparison

One thing that really caught my eye on the 6G was reading that it has 48" between the wheel wells. Hauling plywood and sheet goods (often expensive hardwood plywood) is all too common a task for me, so I made a knock-down platform to allow me to carry them flat above the wheel wells. Being able...
  16. OEM/Motorcraft Parts Pricing??

Those of you finding one pad or one corner much thinner than the others, should look at cleaning out and re-greasing the slide pins on the caliper at the least. Potentially just replace the caliper. That mismatched wear is indicative of a sticking caliper... On older vehicles it can be the flex...
  17. Up North

Just drive normal/gentle for a couple minutes. Unless it is well below zero you won't notice much of anything. And it ain't that cold right now... Or prestart it and let run a couple min before you get in. It will be warmer quicker for you that way.
  18. Lurking on 6G... appears deliveries are beginning

Still no Supercab. Booooo! I can live with a 6' bed, though it isn't the best coming from an 8' Superduty, but no way with a 5'...
  19. Why with weight in truck bed it rides better (sorry posted in wrong category and I can't find out how to move thread)

Yeah, What rydfree said. You can't easily design something to be able to carry a decent amount of weight in the bed and float like a 70's Buick when empty at the same time as you need enough spring force to hold up the weight it is rated for, and those springs are going to make a bit rough when...
  20. SuperCab Rear Door DIY Vent Window Idea

It's so small by the time you get any hinge and latch on it, there wouldn't be much window left...
