  1. Towing 6Klbs for 1400 Miles?

If I wasn’t taking my wife, dogs, and who knows how much luggage and Xmas stuff while also going through WY in Dec then I would have used my truck. The heavier the tow vehicle in wind and snow/ice is usually always helpful though so I jumped at the chance to use that F350. Plus I’m saving wear...
  2. Towing 6Klbs for 1400 Miles?

Well I had good timing today. My buddy who was going to pick up the truck for me upgraded to a diesel F350, so he’s letting me borrow his gas F350 before he sells it. Gas mileage is going to be rough but I won’t be hurting on the weight. Doesn’t solve my issues with potential weather but it’s my...
  3. Towing 6Klbs for 1400 Miles?

@Grumpaw yep I agree. Even if the towing itself was way under weight I don’t really want to get stuck in WY waiting for highways to open. I’ve decided to have my buddy go get it at some point
  4. Towing 6Klbs for 1400 Miles?

I’m glad I asked about this trip on here. You all have brought up good points I hadn’t considered. Here’s my breakdown of weights. Some are estimated but close enough. GCWR allowed for my truck: 12,400 GVWR: 6050 Curb Weight: 4232 Payload Capacity: 1545 Estimated Payload People: 300...
  5. Towing 6Klbs for 1400 Miles?

Thanks all for your input. @Frenchy - I understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t tow enough to warrant the time and expense. Also I replaced rear springs with a 2nd gen Tacoma I had which had vibration issues similar to our rear driveshaft issues, and it’s not worth the potential...
  6. Towing 6Klbs for 1400 Miles?

I am needing to tow about 5900lbs from north TX to southern MT right after Christmas. It comes out to about 1400 miles and is a generally flat route, just slowly increasing in altitude. The only questionable part of the route will be through WY because of wind and possible snow/ice. I will be...
  7. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

I did have the scanner hooked up at the time, but have tried it hooked up and not hooked up and it's still flashing. Same with forscan. I cleared the DTC log and no codes or DTCs are showing up. Could this be because I unhooked the DPFE sensor and the emissions system needs to run through a full...
  8. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

My truck threw the P139C code today. 57,685 miles. Felt a few bucks/surges running errands then the check engine light came on. Plugged in my scanner at home and it had the code listed twice. Checked this thread and went to the ford dealership for the sensor. Just replaced the sensor (what a...

Not a mid high but it’s cactus gray.
  10. Rear Rotors Warping Due to Parking Brake Applied on Hot Rotors/Pads?

One of the easier brake jobs for me. You don't need to disconnect the parking brake cable, in fact the cable housing was a convenient way to hold up the caliper while swapping the rotors. The pistons are screw type so you will need the tool to compress them. Rear left is counterclockwise, rear...
  11. Rear Rotors Warping Due to Parking Brake Applied on Hot Rotors/Pads?

I used mid priced powerstop rotors and pads from rockauto
  12. Rear Rotors Warping Due to Parking Brake Applied on Hot Rotors/Pads?

Thanks for the advice everyone. Caliper pins were still well greased and moving freely. I'm gonna chalk it up to lots of hilly braking and traction control at this point. Brakes feel smooth after the replacement so I'll see how long they stay that way.
  13. Rear Rotors Warping Due to Parking Brake Applied on Hot Rotors/Pads?

I just changed out my rear brake pads and rotors at 40k miles because I was getting a heavy, fast pulse from the rear when braking from over 45mph on downhills. The pads still had more material than the backing plate so it seemed like they should have gone quite a bit longer. I also noticed the...

Here is a Century Ultra Sport. Same as Leer I think.
  15. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Hey Everyone, New Ranger owner as of a month ago. Loving the truck and the forum is great. Used to own a 2nd gen Tacoma and the forums were a great place for info/ideas. Bilstein 5100 lift is already on the way and excited to do more.
