  1. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

What I normally use is the typ 200, which says is compatible with all dot 4 brake fluids, but they also have the SL.6, which is LV. I think the typ 200 is an upgrade, but wanted to ask for opinions since we are talking about it.
  2. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

Thanks, that makes sense now. Couldn't find anything dot 4 voc.
  3. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

Hi Phil! Glad to see you are still around. Last I checked, you were taking a break from the forums. I did still have the e-brake system working. In fact, the computer kicked it on automatically, and I could not turn it off. I wasn't even aware the Ranger could do that prior to this incident...
  4. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

I totally agree. It's getting a complete flush, but I haven't had a chance to do it yet. I use ATE TYP 200 Racing brake fluid. It's a bit overkill, as I am not ever getting it to racing temps, but have lots left over from my previous car (Honda Civic Si). What is dot 4 Voc though? Doesn't voc...
  5. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

I hate to admit it, but I had pulled my tree savers out of the truck for another use. I always carry them when off roading, but this was impromptu after skiing, so I did not have them with me. I did do my best to protect the tree though, because I am aware of the damage a winch cable can cause...
  6. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

It was. Even with the brake issue.
  7. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

Nope, that was 4H. Yes, I have the trail control and had it set to grass/gravel/snow.
  8. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

The question about it being a design flaw is the fact that it can happen at all. If the line was designed perpendicular to the ground instead of parallel, it could not happen. It was pointed out that it may be due to my negative offset wheels leaving the caliper more exposed though.
  9. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

I am running negative offset wheels, so you could very well be right. I totally see your point about the gate. It was a judgement call that I believe could be argued either way. I had not considered that it could lead to permanent road closure though. If my tracks are seen, hopefully it is...
  10. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

You misunderstand. There was no gate nor sign where I entered. The gate I encountered was where I was trying to exit from, which is another entrance. This one said it was closed, but the one I entered at did not. Again, I attempted to go to the ranger station to ask which roads where open, and...
  11. Had a serious issue off-roading, ranger design flaw?

This past weekend, I went skiing with one of my daughters (12 years old) While there, I saw a service road and wanted to check it out at the end of the day. Unfortunately, it was closed for cross country skiing. I went to the ranger station to ask them, but they were closed, so I used my gps to...
  12. Ranger shopping

The only way to get the price down is to pit the dealers against each other.
  13. Wheelin adventures

Here are some pics of my most recent adventure @ Pismo Beach.
  14. Ranger shopping

I know this is a late response. I haven't been very active recently, but they know they can most likely get you to the higher price because you took time to drive to their dealership. See my post above for tactics on how to negotiate a price better than x-plan. I understand you already...
  15. going to 16" wheel? 17"? from 18"

I have 35's (315/75) on 16" wheels. You can fit them without issue. Rubbing will only come into play if you change the offset/tire size.
  16. Wheelin adventures

Here is a video one of my friends made of our day at Hollister Hills:
  17. Wheelin adventures

Havent been around for a while. Crazy busy with life, but wanted to pop in and update with some of my pics. Lovin every bit of the Ranger!
  18. SPD Performance Downpipe

Not sure, but I will say mine came with a 2.5" adapter that was welded on. I cut it off to attach my 3" pipe.
  19. Options for bolt on fender flares?

Forgot to mention, this is for a Tremor, if that matters.
  20. Options for bolt on fender flares?

So, I had a wild day at Hollister Hills SVRA, but didn't leave unscathed. Here are pictures of the damage: Very small dent with some bad scratches on the passenger side front door: Passenger rear fender flare broke off. Most of the mounting points are very cheap and are broken: The body...
