One of the primary reasons I wanted the supercab over the super crew was so that I can haul longer boards, as a lot of the wood I get is 10-12 feet long.
I do some woodworking on the side, mainly 18th-century reproductions. Attached are a few photos. of some things I have made.
I figured it out- I'll take a few photos later when I can. I still prefer the simple steel plate on the back of my phone case, so that's what I use when I'm driving. But, when my wife or son drives my truck, I wanted them to have an option- so I took the RAM X mount thingy and glued a stack of...
@AlanBrandon2005 , did you do this? if so, how did it go? I'm still interested, but would love it if somebody has confirmed that it works to take one from another Ranger and swap to the XL.
Yep, not having done this before, I had thought it would be harder. But I got a Draw-tite for $128 and installed it in just a few minutes. The bolts lined up nicely and it was super easy. Since I only need to pull a 5x10 motorcycle trailer, the 4-pin that was already there is fine for me...
When I got my license (in 1988), my dad let me drive his 1972 F100 Custom to school every day. This is a stock photo I found online, but it looked a lot like this. By the time I got it, it had 16 years as a farm truck, so it wasn't in near as good as condition as this one. But, I was an idiot...
I've been thinking about doing something with the back seat, too. I'd like my dog to ride on the space behind the passenger seat (on a dog bed), but I need somewhere to put some other gear and/or hang a suit jacket when I'm working. I don't envision a scenario where I'll need to travel with...
I thought about this for a long time. I started looking a few years ago and almost pulled the trigger on a Ranger (should have) last year when the dealers were offering crazy deals. But I kept talking myself out of it.
My first car/truck was a Ranger back in 1990. Since then I have had (mine...
I have a request- another member here at Ranger 5G has a couple of Lariat stock 18" stock wheels/rims in chrome for sale. I have the XL s-cab in oxford white with the 17" alloy rims and am considering upgrading to the chrome takeoffs. Does anybody here happen to have this setup that I could see...
I took the magnetic mounting plate off and noticed that the ball is screwed on. So, in theory, you could take a RAM-sized ball and put in its place. I know you mentioned something like that in an earlier post, but it looks like it would be easy to do. It looks like the RAM ball mounts with a...
That may work for the initial fitting, but my experience with that stuff is that it is pretty easy to tear or rub off and if you move the mount position at all, it will rip it and you'd have to re-coat to make it work right again.
One thing that I have noticed with these repairs/mods on my Ranger-
I have been spending the last 6 months working on a motorcycle build and everything is difficult to get to, there is never enough room for my hands, and nothing is easy. These things on the truck (bumper cover, nerf bars...
The new bumper cover came in yesterday and I did the install after dinner. You guys were right- it was super easy. I had to take my hammer to one part of the metal that was sticking up, but that took a minute and the cover snapped in place very quickly. I'll take a picture when I go out later...
I tried it, since I have a RAM mount on one of my motorcycles. I like the magnet, but it would have been nice to have in the truck for when others in my family drive it. Unfortunately, the ball on the Course Motorsports is smaller at 5/8", where my RAM mount uses a 3/4" ball.
