I just bite the bullet and order straight from the US. I pay the duty even though I remember whe autoparts made i the US were duty free through Nafta. And then I bitch about it until i remember how much of a shitshow it is south of the border.
I do have fair luck finding things listed on...
A Mishimoto box was waiting for me when I got back from picking up lunch. I've got to admit I am excited to swap in the better flowing pipes but I'd be more excited if there was a new intercooler as well. Has anyone installed the new pipes yet?
My automotive history going WAAAYYY back tells me that an automotive GENERATOR produces DC and was highly inefficient with significant parasitic drag and were prone to EMI. Comparable Automotive ALTERNATORS produce AC with far less parasitic drag and are bridged to a 12 or 24v rectifier that...
While it is true that there might be an issue with an unspecified 'offroad snorkel'. At the point that I need an offroad snorkel I'm in so deep into wheel, tire and suspension upgrades that its not that much extra effort to 3d print a coupler out of abs and fiber wrap it to fit the mishimoto...
Initially I liked the look of the Roush intake. But the Roush really just modifies the existing airbox to accommodate a better filter with more surface area without doing much to remove the flow restrictions. You do get a smooth bending silicon elbow but it uses part of the stock airbox and the...
I received my Mishimoto Intake on friday and installed it sunday. It was a very simple install and at first glance my initial reaction is that it looks like it belongs in the engine bay.
With Covid restrictions I didnt really get a decent opportunity to take the Ranger out until today. I got to...
BOB’s and GHB have a basic principle. You pack basic tools that enable you manage one of several common goals and generally get past moments of excrement contact with rotating blade assemblies.
What do you need to walk away. What do you need to get home. What do you need to Hunker Down if...
I’m down in Vancouver. I’ve seen a handful of new rangers around town. I’ve gotten nods from other ranger drivers like when I used to have a RHD JDM WRX. WRX drivers are known for nodding or waving to one another.
Been on this board since I got the Ranger in December. Magnetic XLT FX4 supercrew. Just discovered there was a Canada section. Doesnt look like anyone else is from BC.
Couple things.
Factory exhausts are almost always aluminized steel.
The Resonator is not a restriction. The muffler is a restriction. Crush bends (as opposed to mandrel bends) are a restriction. Unless there is a serious design flaw or defect; Resonators are not a restriction.
Free flowing exhaust will definitely improve mileage within identical driving conditions. This is frequently canceled out by the human factor. The better spooling will make people inclined to participate in leadfooted antics.
Without bothering to determine where that license plate goes to I can make the educated guess that this madmax inspired pseudo-snowplow is probably an Australian contrivance. The blue Ranger with the snorkle is Right-Hand-Drive.
The reason SS exhausts are "pretty" is because they are usually tig welded (which is stronger) and corrosion resistant. That is the whole point.
I am in total agreement that aftermarket exhaust systems are expensive. My wife would blow her top if I suddenly spent $1100 on a SS Exhaust System...
Pretty much all aftermarket exhausts I have seen for the Ranger are SS. The Factory exhaust is aluminized steel. Pretty much all ford factory exhausts are aluminized steel.
My understanding is aftermarket exhausts systems are usually always stainless steel because: Stainless looks better so...
