The OEM PCV hose will be easy to spot - just like the blue hose in the diagram above. The Ford Performance Air/Oil Separator was engineered perfectly and fits as if it was there from the factory. When you install the Air/Oil Separator, it will be very clear where both hoses go based on their...
They do not have to drop the pan with a fluid exchange. The machine used to flush/exchange the fluid reads pressures so the technician can tell if the filter is starting to build up with debris. A fluid exchange plus filter change is a lot more involved. First, the fluid has to be exchanged...
After a week of driving, I do notice better response with the brake pedal and it does not feel as "spongy" as it first did.
Everything has been working fine with the transmission fluid exchange as well.
I would think that since it is a Ford product, Ford would install it. I know Ford Performance has a tuner kit, that if installed by Ford, it keeps the warranty in tack. Don't quote me on this - it's just my thoughts/opinion.
Thank You for clarifying . . . I need to wear my readers more often as I missed the LV vs. ULV!!! I will double-check what I purchased to make sure I have the correct viscosity. It's always the fine print that gets me.
Actually, the transfer case takes Automatic Transmission Fluid. At least that's what it says in my Owner's Manual, and that's the fluid I bought from the Ford dealership as I am going to change mine this weekend at approximately 53,000 miles.
Double check your Owner's Manual under...
I just had my 2021 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 serviced - Transmission Fluid Exchange and Brake Fluid Exchange. 52,722 miles on the odometer. I wasn't having any issues with either system . . . just wanted to have both serviced as preventative maintenance. Transmission fluid checked out fine - no...
I'm not sure if the two issues are related or not . . . the Air/Oil separator "removes" oil exiting the crankcase and prevents it from re-entering the fuel system via the intake, which is causing carbon buildup on the intake valves. I've seen threads regarding rising oil levels, but I cannot...
Lubricate the connector and o-ring with oil (per instructions) and it makes sliding/snapping the new hose on much easier. The new hoses have a quick disconnect tab so they can be removed without breaking anything (e.g. when emptying the container). I separated the bowl from the unit, using the...
Follow the hose from the valve cover - it is between the front of the engine and radiator on the passenger side. The tamper-proof connectors are what make removal difficult. They have to be broken (I used a 90 degree pick tool). The PCV hose is plastic, so after I removed the upper connector...
Removing the OEM PCV hose at the lower end was "challenging" because it has tamper-proof connectors that have to be "broken" in order to remove. Due to the tight space, it's hard to reach the lower connection and there are lots of things that seem to scratch and cut your hands up (e.g. zip...
I just installed the Ford Performance Air/Oil Separator about a month ago, and posted this thread:
