I went with 275's. I wanted 285 but didn't really need them, or the huge mpg hit. 275's seemed to be good compromise with my wheel package. Bigger than stock, looks beefy, but not cartoonish big either. After I ordered them I had second thoughts while waiting on delivery, but that went away...
I reused mine, I suppose they are fine as long as not damaged. I did not, however, think the torque was that high. I think I only torqued to 150ish. Maybe I should pull the wheel and give it more.
Or terrible gap. Not sure about the ranger, but notoriously overgapped on the mustang. I took mine out on the mustang, gapped them properly, and they run great now.
Definitely loosen the axle nut for more play. I didn't and had to rebuild my cv (driver side). Easiest way is to stick a screwdriver down through the brake caliper into one of the disc vents. Crack it loose. Probably doesn't have to come all the way out, but loosening it up should help a lot.
I have one in my mustang, all it really does is beef up the stock bpv a little. In the mustangs, cruising on the highway, the valve will open a little and you get a real annoying hiss sound. This just takes it away. Haven't heard a hiss in the ranger yet though so I likely won't purchase for...
Did a little towing over the weekend. Helped the old man do some tree work around his house. Really surprised how well tow mode worked. Honestly, I wish normal mode held the revs a little higher. I hate that it lugs down so far before shifting.
Side note: how do you keep rocks off your...
Thanks! Will do. Probably won't see a ton of off-road, went more for the look, I won't lie. We do see a bunch of snow up this way though. That should be a good test as well.
I painted mine blue. I had a terrible time reinstalling the rubber boots without scratching em up. I just touched up the scratches after install. Someday, maybe, I'll powdercoat for longevity.
Wheels and tires came in yesterday! Instantly stopped cutting the grass for install. Looks so much beefier than stock. I'm no photographer but here's a couple to look at. One of these days I'll get it up in the hills and test them out. I did have a slight rub on the crash bars backing into...
Looks great! LED's make a huge difference. I did my garage with them last year. My dad liked them so much, he tore down all his old florescents and replaced them too. Can never have to much garage lighting in my opinion.
Installed RC leveling kit last Thursday, alignment Friday, stubby antenna in this morning. What a nightmare on the level kit. I followed the instructions, guess I shouldn't have. I should have loosened the axle nuts from the start. Getting the struts in and out was bad enough, but I managed...
Tailgate damper and mud guards came in from the dealer. They still can't figure out how to charge them against rewards so they gave em to me and said we'll figure it out later. Installed in less than an hour, pretty straight forward. Took me longer to find a t50 torx. Put an order in with...
Ordered a RC 2.5 kit and a stubby antenna to replace that ridiculously long stock one. 20 buck for the antenna, couldn't pass it up. On to wheel / tire shopping!
Got my steps put on over the weekend. Longest part was deciding driver side vs. passenger side ha. Not very well labeled. Tried some of that new turtle wax "ceramic" spray on the ranger and mustang. I know its not the real deal but seems okay. Water seems to bead well. A couple more coats...
Did my bedliner last night. Rustoleum's kit. Worked really well, I think. Biggest pain was the prep. It's still a little tacky, so it will stay in the garage for a couple days. I had a gift certificate, so it only cost ~ $50 and a six pack. Then I pulled the front tow hooks and sprayed...
