  1. Larger Tires and Speed Correction - Who Has Done it?

I mount a set of 275/65R18 Goodyear Wranglers in place of stock 265/60R18s during our brief New Mexico winters and worry about our local fastidious PDs through our village and nearby pueblo. So, I used a GPS to figure out that I must add one mph through 35, two through 50, and three at 70+. So...
  2. Flipstep tailgate ladder

I have the same step. The others I looked at were too bulky. It is adequate, really, rather good for the price. I like the compactness and easy removal.
  3. How’d I do?

That is a nice little buggy. Enjoy.
  4. Tailgate Appliqué

I like the tailgate stickers, and I like a nice neat pinstripe, too. I sprayed my calipers, also, I think that is a nice finishing touch. The only thing that will make this little truck look better now is my fishing canoe poking out the back.
  5. No, Not Again!

I wash my vehicles easily twice or maybe even three times a year. I find they run just as well dirty as clean - until accumulated mud starts ruining the weight and aerodynamics. Living on a dirt road will soon break any one of the personal need for a clean truck or motorcycle. :sunglasses:
  6. What is the best Ranger color?

Blue LOOKS great, pretty color. But "pretty" is not as important to me as other factors I mentioned in color selection.
  7. Transmission sluggish on start.

Two seconds? Mine has a slight delay, nowhere near two seconds. I would ask the dealer about it to at least get them to type it into the record .
  8. What is the best Ranger color?

I picked silver for the thermal heat-reflecting properties, and I think silver is best at dirt-hiding. I live on a dusty dirt road in sunny, sunny, New Mexico, silver is the best at reflecting heat and good at hiding dust. I also like that only about 5% of Rangers are silver according to this...
  9. Show us your Tinted Headlights and Rear lights

Dealers do that stuff to boost sales, they always have done this. When I bought my first Norton in 1969, the dealer had modified it. I had to request the stock parts back.
  10. Show us your Tinted Headlights and Rear lights

I have considered applying a film to my headlights and taillights, but only for defensive purposes. The taillights cost about $1K, headlights probably more, and the film is only a couple of bucks. I would not want to in any way reduce my visibility. Thoughts, anyone?
  11. Early Stages of Ranger Shopping! Question on 4x4 vs FX4!

Your post definitely struck a chord with me, I am in a very similar place. But in particular, when my Ranger was delivered my first impression of the 'ride' was - and I said this to my wife - it reminded me of the ride of a late-'fifties Buick LeSabre.

Thanks for the update. Please keep us posted.
  13. Can I tow this with my 2019 Ranger

You guys towing those huge trailers, what kind of mpg are you getting?
  14. Pivot tool box question !

Drop in a 1"x8" stick measured to the width, as a divider, to segregate your gear.
  15. Early Stages of Ranger Shopping! Question on 4x4 vs FX4!

Most guys (always guys) get the FX4 package for the nifty sticker on the back fender. Suckers. The FX4 package is a bag of expensive gadgets that you will never use. The exception, the only really useful part of the FX4 package, is the "posi-traction" option (I forget what Ford calls it)...
  16. Auto Folding Mirror Mod Install Instructions - Pictures/Video

Thanks, first of all, for all this good information. It took me more than 20 minutes, but mostly because I was afraid of maring the dash panel. I do not think I could have solved this as quickly without your pictures and advice. So, thanks, again, for your help.
  17. Cool tires, lame fuel economy

Another item to remember when discussing fuel economy is that the refineries change to their inferior winter formulas, so it is not just the cold weather that is reducing mpg. If you changed to larger tires at the same time your gas changed to winter formula - and the temps dropped, you have...
  18. Where’s your dog?

We have two labradors, 55# and 75#, and they are accustomed to our dog-hammock slung between the headrests. I leave this hammock in place at all times, it protects the leather seats when I shove boxes and other cargo back there and keeps everything where I can find it. If shopping for such a...
  19. Accidentally bumped red line

I am pretty sure that there is a rev-limiter within the ignition module, designed to prevent this sort of accidental damage. I found out about this technology when I over-revved my then brand-new GL1800 Goldwing - with no damage.
