have you considering adding some lubegard - reported on here that it helps with smoother shifting, so perhaps it may also help with smoother sh*tting ?
You could use the opportunity to build something that is meaningful , accommodates multiple users, maybe put a "Ranger" sign uptop and a "Tacoma" below.
Air temps can be a factor as well as how many altitude changes, on my current trip I towed thru Utah and mountainous regions in northern AZ , so many ups and downs and temps were often in the 30s and 40s. Kept speeds below 65 mph and mpgs were 10.5. Sucky.
but I see those large 5th wheel TT...
Currently on a trip towing 4200 lbs tt , 10.5 mpg, horrid, might not be much better though with a gas engine f150, the serious towers rely on the 6.7 powerstroke.
I thoroughly enjoy the pics of used fluids in a jug generally posted by the over maintainer crowd to justify their actions. My apologies for not taking the time to post a pic of the diff fluid I changed yesterday to show it's darkness in a jug, without thinking I just added it to my used oil...
ok nearing 50k miles and getting ready to tow the TT on Saturday, decided to change the rear diff fluid, found it to be in good shape, albeit slightly darker than brand new stuff but that's to be expected, no chunks of metal, small amount of metallic goop on the drain plug.
Also had checked...
this - and a lucrative one for the auto makers who charge big markups for stuff that in general isn't a whole lot different from after market multi use ATFs - such as Valvoline ULV. Fortunately Motorcraft ULV can be acquired at a reasonable price.
Hyundai was charging $18/qt for their SPIII...
Wish there was a wolfbox available in colorado to package up all the grey wolves recently introduced and send them back to whence they came. But gen x y and z wanted the wolves.
I posted a 10r80 flush video during a previous atf flush conversion, according to that Ford approved method the flush machine is hooked up to a port located on the upper passenger side and the dipstick port is the other hookup, the flush is conducted with the engine running which would flush...
Yeah I recall they used early solid state ignition and would burn out a ballast resistor, plus iirc they were marketed using Chrysler "lean burn" which was mostly bs. The gran fury wagon with the 383 v8 was pretty nice but the tranny went out at around 60k, Chrysler products were know in the...
Yeah the valiant did, the buttons were on the left side of the dash, I remember this well because my younger brother, maybe 7 or 8 got in the car and apparently hit the neutral button and the car rolled down the driveway into the street, we go outside and he's in the car trying to turn the...
My father was big on Chrysler products, had a valiant and then a 63 belvedere wagon, both iirc had the slant 6 , he gave the 63 to me as my 1st car and I promptly totaled it. Then he had IIIRC a Gran Fury wagon with a 383 V8 which was pretty fast, followed by a Volare which was a piece of...
No one could ever fill a trench coat like Andy, back in the day when STP was the "racers edge"
I have a london fog from my suit wearing days in sales that I now don when changing my oil in honor of Andy.
Basically an expensive hobby - over and above the trailer cost you have license and reg fees, insurance, propane, WD hitch recommended, campground fees, then depending on your rig towing it will destroy your mpg, wear the tires faster, might need more maintenance.
But at age 72 tent camping got...
We bought our 1st TT about 1.5 yrs back - I always research my purchases but there are so many choices that after a while I experienced mental fatigue looking at them, this even before the buying experience which was on a level worse than car buying. Eventually drove all the way to Ohio to buy...
well that might change the equation - most atf are dyed red, maybe it was purple , never heard of grey ATF but being a quick change place maybe they are recycling someone's used fluid, lol
The many downsides of quick change places. Unless your tranny has acted more weirdly than before they added it - I wouldn't give it another thought. And highly doubtful Ford would be able to tell with less than a quart of higher viscosity ATF in the mix
Have you ever checked the fluid level - numerous reports of underfilled trannies from the factory - mine included which was low by about a qt. Very poor reflection on Ford's QC - which doesn't appear to be improving much.
