Bought these and ended up changing direction on my build. These are brand new uncoated and are pure BEEF. This includes the front, engine, transmission and t-case skid. Local pickup in Raleigh only as shipping is insane. I would like $800 for them as its about a grand to get these from 589 shipped.
I will bet they installed the shims wrong which messed with the pinion angle further putting it out of spec. That is what my dealer did as documented in a previous post of mine. I ended up doing the TSB myself and it mostly fixed it. However I am now working with a driveshaft manufacturer to get...
I see this deletion and now question what other components have taken a back seat to quality for a penny. Makes you wonder what changes may be going on in say, the motor. It has me on the fence on buying another Ford product.
It is crazy the cost cutting going on at Ford yet their prices are...
While I agree with the first, shutting off the motor after some abuse (boost sessions) is not detrimental to an oil and liquid cooled turbo. All systems I have seen have the reservoir tank higher. Prime example is Subaru, they actually have a high "burp" tank on top of the intake manifold. The...
That grease is actually coming from the CV assembly near the flange. I will bet money that its missing the gasket at the flange or that is was over tightened and crimped said gasket. These gaskets are usually paper and very easy to do. I rebuilt the CV front DS on my WJ and accidentally forgot...
My shudder is constantly between 10 and 15 mph regardless of what gear the transmission is in or what rpm the motor is at. Ironically it is non existent cold when the transmission shifts the worst. Cant ever seem to win lol.
That's cool and all but Ford really needs to address the present. I don't need to spend more money to get a vibration free vehicle. It's pathetic how much "experimenting" I have had to do on my own with ZERO dealer support. They aren't addressing it and it has turned me off of the brand for...
Just an update, folks. Swapped out the 1 degree shim to a 0.5 degree that I had machined from an extra in the kit. Shudder is still there on occasion and when there its about the same as the 1 degree shim. Still 100% convinced its the out of phase 2 piece shaft. I bought this truck to go to 200k...
Have you had the TSB for correcting the pinion angle done (20-2277)? My dealer screwed up mine and it caused all sorts of vibration with a heavy presence at 25 mph and a very prominent shudder on take off. I since received the kit from a fellow tech on here and performed the TSB again myself...
Our trucks don't have much caster on the factory suspension. I too have to correct my steering wheel a lot. My previous jeeps all had around 5 to 6 degrees and thisnwas never an issue.
I too would like more information on this new driveshaft. I am having vibration issues that I solely relate to the DS and the dealer is being an absolute asshole about it.
Also, another update. I did the TSB myself on Tuesday after all the bullshit with this dealer. Ford customer care told me to go to another dealer and no other dealer in my area would touch the truck with the work already being "partially done". Luckily another member of a FB group I'm in is a...
You are correct that those flanges should match. Thats how u-joint style shafts should work. My only head scratching part on this is if this could change because of the phasing of the driveshaft. Since it is 15 degrees out of phase, I am wondering if that is why Ford is saying 5.2 degrees as...
Another update. I reported in a previous post I was getting 7 degrees for the pinion angle. I realized I did not zero it on the frame and apparently my driveway is sloped about a degree. Side note: I totally have been measuring the angles of everything since purchasing a digital inclinometer...
