Had a very similar issue with my truck. It was in the shop just one time, but for a total of 33 days. Issue turned out to be a shorted wire in the main module harness under the fuse box in the engine compartment (I believe it is behind the headlight as well)
What exactly does the "Secure Start" option do?
My XLT does not have remote start, but I have purchased the module kit for it and need to know where to go in Forscan to enable/program it. Might anyone know where this is?
I just got my truck back after 33 days in the shop for a very similar issue. Check the post here
They replaced a brake switch, and the smart data module, reprogrammed the bcm and pcm numerous times. It all came down to a wire short in the harness between the modules under the fuse/relay box...
I had a feeling they were, just based on the parts available for them. There was no bulb listed, only a complete housing and adjustment screw. $100 a piece from Fordparts.com isn't too bad for that type of upgrade.
I got the call this morning that it is ready to go, and in fact the short was the cause of all the issues. It was in the harness for the modules under the fuse/relay box under the hood. After they completed the overlay not a single issue has occurred and all codes have cleared. If mods could...
Man, that does suck. For a car at that price I'd have raised more hell thank I did now. They're doing more test driving today, but everything looks good at this point. I may get to bring her home today.
FSE was out with the truck yesterday and discovered a short in one of the wiring harnesses that goes between multiple control modules in the engine compartment. They did an overlay with a new harness yesterday and have since put almost 20 miles on it with test drives and the issues have not yet...
Possibly. My father is retired now but he was an expert tech for Ford for decades before retiring. We made a few phone calls the other day and were able to track down the local Field Service Engineer for Ford. Luckily he remembers working with my dad. And as it turns out he is assigned to look...
How can they not have the mileage charges readily available for you? That should be part of the information they provide you with. I'm wondering what my mileage charge might be if I have to go that route, went into the shop with 521 miles, 26 days ago. They've put another 166 miles on it with...
I’m interested in the process for replacement of your vehicle. I am having a very similar experience with a Ford case and my dealership, going over 3 weeks as of today.
Dealership says they were able to condemn the "Smart Data Link Module" as malfunctioning. They're on back order at least a week though. The girl working my case from Ford is trying to get one pulled and overnighted. More wait and see, oh joy.
THIS! There seem to be no more real mechanics/technicians, just parts changers that follow basic instructions on the computer. And if the computer line of instructions stop they have no idea what to do next. Wouldn't know a carburetor, choke, regulator, etc..
I don't think it would cause any of these issues, but I've let them know at least half a dozen times that all of the tires are still at the pre-delivery 46-49psi. For whatever reason they refuse to adjust them down to 35.
I believe this is their next plan of attack, troubleshooting module by module as they called it. From my point of view, 3 weeks in this should have been done already.
For Arizona it’s 4 attempts to resolve the issue, or 30 or more consecutive calendar days of the vehicle being out of operation because the shop has been unable to fix it. Tomorrow makes day 20
Yes, I do have Ford customer service involved. And after over a week since contacting them, up until today they have been less than stellar. They are making at least one payment for me, but I also have insurance I've paid on this thing, and now they want to put me in a bigger loaner that will...
