This bezel seems to be causing all sorts of rattles. If you find a fix for the rattle with the alert led bezel in it, let us know.
I hope Ford fixes this issue in the next generation of Rangers.
I noticed this same issue last night. I ended up using a quarter inch wooded rod to push the leaves to one end of the bed and out the bottom (trying my best not to scratch the paint), and then used some compressed air to blow out what was left. Does anyone know how durable the vents are on the...
I did one last check and I think the double foam backer rod worked the best, no rattle or problems to report and everything stayed in place for me. I just hope I haven't worn out the clips and holders too much by taking the defrost bezel on and off multiple times.
Hope this helps anyone with...
I wouldn't think it would end up being a TSB, since they would have to replace the entire top part of the dash with one that has a receptacle to push in the last V clip. Maybe they will find a different solution, if you hear anything or see anything from Ford about this issue let us know. I have...
Same, my ranger has been great so far. Just the rattle is quite annoying especially on a new vehicle. I have added a second nine inch long cut of the one inch backer rod in front of the original one (since you get a good 10 feet per bag).
I have attached a very crude side view drawing of this...
I tried to take my ranger on some very rough roads in the snow this morning to see if it would rattle. It sounded like it started to rattle, but on roads like that everything rattles a bit so it was hard to tell. I'm calling it a success for me; let me know if it works for you or if you found a...
Once it goes below forty degrees for me, it sounds like a hoard of bees is trying to escape from my dash.
Drove it today still no rattles,:like: when i go to work on Monday i will see if it rattles at all on my morning commute.
Tried to take one more picture of the backer rod behind the dash...
I think I found a solution, it requires some 1" backer rod (you can find at your local hardware store).
Pull up on the defrost vent bezel until the clips detach.
Then take 9" of the backer rod and tuck in just underneath the dash cavity over the gauge cluster (where rattle occurs) ...
The rattle i have experienced is where the dash meets the defrost vents. If you push down on the dash right over the gauge cluster you can see underneath the defrost vent bezel and there is a clip there with no receptacle. i think that is causing the rattle for me.
I ended up removing the trim i added as well, it was a little too cheap looking for me. i am trying a few more things to see if i can get the rattling to stop, i will add to the thread if any of them work. Let me know if you find anything that works.
Was at the dealer to drop my truck off for usual maintenance, and went to look at the other Ranger on the lot while I waited. I saw that some of the XL Rangers have their emergency braking LED's right where this rattle occurs. That might be why there is a clip there but no receptacle. The...
I found some silver trim to replace the blue on Amazon.

I think it looks a lot less noticeable than the blue trim. Still can't find a black one, but it should keep the rattle at bay.
It looks like some generic flexible plastic. i will probably keep it as is until winter is over, then remove it since there is no adhesive holding it in. The vibration was only noticeable when it gets cold. There could be a black one out there; Autozone only had red or blue.
I have this same rattle as well; I tried a few different ways to fix it with no luck, so I ended up going to Autozone. I went down the "ricer" aisle and found an interior accent strip that slips in-between panels. It looks cheap, but the rattle stopped.
Quick update, I ended up removing the four washers and screws (it started to warp the plastic). I think I am going to try a couple of those tree/barb plastic push pins, and push it through the threaded hole. I have seen a few Rangers on this forum that have done this valance removal, and was...
I bought some brighter fog light bulbs for my Ranger, and had a difficult time reaching the plug. I ended up removing the lower bumper valences to get at the socket, and I ended up liking having the valences removed. The only item I had to add to complete this mod was 4 rubber washers (2 each...
Hi everyone,
I was washing my truck the other day, and noticed some sections of the door seam sealer has released from the door exposing the seam. I was inspecting an exposed section and it started to crumble (see pic). I’m having my dealer repair the exposed seam, due to Rangers of old having...
Got my first of many hood dents on my new Ranger, I was driving home and a dump truck pulled out in front of me. A large chunk of something flew up, dented and removed some paint down to the metal on my hood :frown:.
I tried two different types of "guaranty to match paint " and this is the...
It was just in case I messed up and broke it, I would have a spare to replace it with. The part was fairly inexpensive as well, so I didn't mind purchasing a second one.
