I changed oil & filter at 1,500/3,000/6,000 miles.
First change smelled like STRAIGHT gasoline. Every change thereafter was NOT as noticeable, becoming more and more faint.
The oil LEVEL however, is still reading ridiculously high.
Well, I'll be DAMPED!
I didn't just make my Ranger DAMPER, I might've made it the DAMPEST Ranger in all the land!
Also, my truck has a little strut in it, now ?
Don't get me wrong... I love this truck. I know it's tough to interpret "tone" in a message reply... I'm not upset.
I'm just REALLY hoping "not driving long and/or hard enough" is not the reason for my truck's mechanical issues ??
Please don't tell me that (in the year 2021) I have to drive a $40K+ vehicle (that already doesn't hit it's advertised MPG numbers) long and hard, CONSTANTLY, for it to meet my absolute MINIMUM (mechanical) expectations.
If that's the case, I'll never buy a vehicle like this again, and I'll be...
6,000 miles into it... 7 months, or so. 2020 XLT FX4.
I've got fuel in the oil. Dipstick reads ridiculously high. Oil & filter changes at 1,500/3,000/6,000. I'm putting in 6-quarts (Mobil 1, 5W30 Extended Performance), and getting out well-over that amount.
Oily residue inside the...
Yep. 1st oil change (1,500 miles), smelled like straight gasoline.
Couple hundred miles later, dipstick looks good, but fuel smell remains ?

*EDIT: Nope. The dipstick is WELL past the "twist" ??
The thing I dig most about the ICONIC SILVER is you can drive it out to the beach (windows down, music blarin'), or pull it up to the valet stand at a formal event... This truck looks good in all environments, day or night ?
Hey gang, really diggin' the place ??
For my first retirement, I rewarded myself with this 2020 4WD XLT... 16 miles on the odometer when I left the lot.
Just over two weeks into it, I've thrown a bed extender on the back, and 3 LED grille lights out front... put a modest tint on the windows...
