By dropping it from the center & not the rear maybe the geometry is not correct and it was in a slight bind. 🤔 I dropped mine from the rear.

What did you use to clean it. When I did mine there was not much to clean so I just lubed it up left the boot on was able to reuse the old clamp.

Thanks. Good thing is you don't need a 10mm. Side note I did not remove the rubber boot. I squeezed lube on the splines & used a small fine brush to move it all in place.

I for one am glad you went thru all of this & shared the results on this great forum. I plan on keeping my truck & hope to prevent or prolong any transmission issues. By changing fluid & adding lube gaurd. This to me is much more accurate than just doing it Fords way of not quit beening shure.
