Thanks! yeah, I don't really need a full length panel, so enough to mount the Rotopax along with some other gear is what I personally wanted.
Just as a reference, this prototype (at qty. 1) through the shop I'm using was ~300$, plus paint and hardware. Which is honestly really cheap for one...
The Builtright Sheetmetal part has so many slots on it, that you should be able to pretty much attach any bolt pattern with 2 bolts. But I went with the ram set-up, the drill down base fit perfectly, all 4 bolts line up with the slots of the mount...
So I'm still working on this a bit.
I just got the second revision of the rack in yesterday and installed it. I'm liking this version much better, it gives me some space to still be able to mount things when the rotopax is in place. I also added brackets that attach to the oval shaped holes in...
Yeah I leave it on, but only because I really never even notice it..
My last car was an Audi, and had big bright blind spot lights that were actually noticeable with your peripheral vision. They would also flash if a car was in your blind spot and you turned your signal on, or if you had your...
Im considering maybe setting up a group buy if enough people would be interested! Just had the chance to fit a rotopax to the rack and it looks like I need to tweak a few dimensions to get it perfect. I may do another prototype rev to confirm it. I'd also need to get some quotes on powder...
Thanks! Yeah, the bend definitely adds a good amount of strength in the back. I think the part should be strong enough for the rotopax, I designed it for a 2 gallon since that's about all you can fit between the tie down hooks. Just need to confirm. I also made this prototype out of 5052 Al...
Got some prototype racks made and installed in my truck, pretty happy with them so far! I made these a bolt on install, no drilling. There is a mounting pattern in the center to mount a rotopax, but I've yet to test that part out yet (need to get one). Hopefully I can get one in quick to test it...
I'll definitely share how they turn out! So far so good, I still need to do a little testing, but once I give it the seal of approval maybe a group buy would be in order..
As a mechanical Engineer with too much time on my hands, I've been working on designing my own simple rack in this Molle/Pals style. I may end up sending the design out to make a prototype at a machine shop soon.
It's pretty surprising to see nobody makes any of these yet! Especially with how...
Did my first little bit of off-roading with the new ranger this weekend to genoa peak in Lake Tahoe. it was definitely a success.. I have a feeling there will be much more to come. I already got the rear tire off the ground descending this trail, so I think some mods will be in order soon...
Just bought my 2019 Ranger Lariat FX4 in magnetic and took it on a little offroad day trip to tahoe, safe to say Im already loving this truck.. Here come the mods haha
