I pulled the trigger on the Curt harness, and it was super easy to install. The hardest part was just getting the extra cable tied up (and that wasn't really hard at all!!!). I opted to mount it below the bumper since I didn't really care about a stock look. I may re-address that at some...
Yep. Makes sense. The tongue weight of the trailer will probably be sub 200 lbs. Loaded it will most likely be less than 250, so while good to know the info, I don't think I will have any issues.
I understand that. Makes perfect sense. My point was the truck has 7500 lbs towing, my hitch is 6000 lbs, so I assume 6000 lbs towing (assuming all other parts are rated at that or higher).
The question was what is the " 1770# Maximum Payload " in the VIN decode referring to. Is that tongue...
If not, I will use the Curt Echo. I did a VIN search and it listed the following:
So hopefully I will be good to go.
I don't care so much to make it look stock, so my plan is to mount it under the bumper with a bracket. I assume there is no issues with that.
I don't know if the maximum...
I looked up the installation, and it says this:
That at least implies to me that it is the tow harness that it is connecting to the tow system, correct?
How would I know? It has a lot of positive reviews, but as we all know, that doesn't mean much.
Can I unplug the harness and check for voltage on the 4 pin connector?
anything wrong with the Curt 56431? It says that it will just plug directly into the existing wire harness.

Then I would do the RedArc Tow Pro:

[EDIT] I see that...
Thanks, I'll look into that. In California, trailers with a gross weight of 1,500 lbs or more must have brakes on at least two wheels. I think the trailer is getting close to that much weight.
When I bought my 2019 Ranger XLT, I had no interest in hauling a trailer. Fast forward 5 years, and now I am buying a small Hiker Trailer (5x9) with brakes. But I have the 4 pin connector. I know I can adapt to 7 pin, but that won't control the brakes. Is there anything I can do?
I did the Pittman, as well as the Pittman matress (which goes over the wheel wells), and I love it. This photo was from when we set it up the first time.
This is the mattress (but we got it in blue). It has an extender included (not shown) so it will go the whole length of the bed. I am...
it's RWD. It would be a DIY. Just been a long time since I have done anything with a spring compressor, and the older I get the more that kind of stuff scares me!! I may just start with the rear and see how it goes.
Really appreciate the help.
I drive almost exclusively on road. I also currently don't ever tow anything (but we are looking at a small Tear-drop style trailer). There are 1,987,456 topics about what shocks to upgrade to (ok, I exaggerate!), and I felt my head spinning trying to figure it out.
I mostly want a smooth...
This may be a stupid question, but now that I have had the service done, is it going to reoccur after another 30k miles? Or should the above work fixed it permanently (assuming no other damage is done obviously).
I have just over 31k miles on my 2019. I would NOT put the pan on if you think you might try to take advantage of the warranty. They were very clear with me up front that any of those types of mods (or and external damage, like an accident) would void the warranty. Luckily, all my mods are...
If anyone is curious, here is the report. Just got the truck back today. Definitely shifts better now. It was fully covered under warranty. Since I only have 2 months left on my 5 year warranty I am glad I had this looked into now!
I pretty much only drive in town. It has been on one...
I heard back from the dealer yesterday. This is what I got:
There was more, but that was the pertinent part. I don't really know much about Transmissions, does what they say make sense?
