The Ranger tows my rig just fine and really, it is up to the task. I have added several suspension items, but it is basically a stock truck.
And, I have been towing RV's since 1970, and honestly, for me, it's a piece of cake. No, I do not recommend towing a heavy trailer unless you are...
Don't want a lighter trailer and do not need a heavier truck !!! Ranger does just fine towing our rig.
Trouble on this trip had nothing to do with the trailer's size/weight or the Ranger's capability.
Pretty much at least once every trip. Usually happens when we're at a campground for a few days.
But, the most asked question is about the ClearView mirrors....many times asked about them.
WHAT !!!!!! Truck started a thread of his own ???? Let me guess....he's looking for a birthday present or up-grade. I will definitely look into it....thanks for the heads up !!!
Yeah, that's the one I have/installed. It's a well made/engineered part, but I just wonder if, when it was tested, they used it on a Ranger under heavy load ?
As posted, I had NO problems with it when daily driving/solo without the trailer.
Just relaying my experience as there were several...
I did keep the OE valve, but thinking I would never need it....it's sitting on shelf in garage.
Besides, It wouldn't have helped me as I didn't know just what was causing the code.
As for what was explained to me, the engine was working hard, towing what I tow, in traffic, up/down grades...
My Ranger, Truck, is basically stock with just the addition of a GFB DV T-9465. As you all know we pull a 7000 lb camper which does make Truck "work" when towing, but otherwise is a daily driver for "an old guy".
We left Monday for Maine from home in Virginia, with the trailer. Ran our usual...
First, I got it for less than the price of a paper filter via another member.
Second, the gauze material works fine .
Third, I grew up with no AC and vent windows and from 1963 to 2010 I never owned a vehicle with a cabin filter, so the plain untreated K&N is a big step up.
Fourth, do you ride...
I have a K&N cabin filter. Clean it every oil change/5000 miles. I do not use the K&N cleaners...just soak it in a bit of Dawn/water and rinse it out. And I just use the filter...no spray...works just fine.
Lest you all worry about the filtration of the K&N that it might be letting bigger...
Not so much Ford skimping on paint.....more toward the water based paint now used. Might as well put food coloring in water and spray it. Great for the environment but as the name implies, thin as water.....nothing like the enamel and lacquer used in "the olden days" !!!
Why, I can remember...
Yeah....normally by this time of year this would be our second trip with the camper. But bathroom leak called for a total re-model and wife needed a new bridge fitted, so this is #1.
Getting ready for trip to Boothbay, Maine. Loaded Truck's bed with camping gear. Installed new Weize battery (OE was 4 years old). Pumped tires to 40 front and 50 psi rear, and did a 6 quart sucky tranny fluid swap along with bottle of Lubeguard
First trip this year !!!!
Hi everyone, I'm Grumpaw's Ranger. My name is Truck, and I'm coming up on my 4th birthday. I know Grumpaw is thinking of getting me something special as I've been a good Ranger, never giving him any trouble at all.
Instead of the usual greetings and salutations or cards, just please send cash...
See...There you go! If you remove your hands from the wheel, you get warned...."Put Hands On Wheel Or Else I Will Ram Into Wall" ! or, "Put Hands On Wheel Or Else I Will Rear End Semi In Front Of Me" !
Is it gonna throw a tantrum and stop in the middle of an X-Way while doing 70 mph ...
Yes officer, I was drinking a beer while I was behind the wheel. But when my truck hit those 5 parked cars, the Bluecruise was in charge of the truck...not me !!!
