  1. For those who bought their first pickup, how many 'friends' asked to use it?

No. Because where I live pretty much everyone else already has their own truck, and usually a bigger one.
  2. Tow Hitch Receiver Question

So did the paperwork you ultimately signed have the tow package or not? I have no patience for companies that screw up up then shrug their shoulders when I discover the error. A mistake on their part should not be a loss on your part.
  3. When Do You Fill Up?

Since I use my Ranger mostly for towing our camper or skiing, I generally fill it up after the last trip so that it's ready for the next mission.
  4. Oversized OEM Replacement Fuel Tank

Ugh. An extra 5 gallons only buys me less than an hour extra range. hardly worth the trouble for over a grand. Would pass on that. Would think harder about it if we moved up to 30.
  5. Oversized OEM Replacement Fuel Tank

Absolutely. Our range when towing is barely 200 miles, and we mostly travel in a region where civilization is sparse and far between.
  6. How long did your stock tires last on your Ranger?

27,000 on my original Hankook Dynapro ATM from 2019. I think I'll get another year out of them.
  7. E 15 gas

So I'll save 10-cents at the pump, but lose 20-cents in lost mileage. Thanks, Joe!
  8. Manual vs Automatic Transmission

I'm largely with you, and would certainly agree if this was a performance car. But as a truck with 10 speeds, I have to appreciate the automatic, especially when towing, which is what I largely use my Ranger for.
  9. Have a 2019 Lariat. Rented a 2020 XLT

I almost went XLT over the Lariat over that. The Lariat cluster is a cluster. It's the most inefficient deliverer of information I've ever owned. Most of the screens are useless information and you have to dance around to see what you want when you want it. As someone who's done human...
  10. Well, my Tremor is done.

With you there. I might have tolerated a frame straightening, but not a slice-n-weld. (Especially because one of the primary chores of mine is towing) Good luck on a replacement. That's the thing that scares me these days. My attitude used to be that if mine got bent enough, I'd just...
  11. This has got to be a misprint

In that case, those of us with SuperCabs will be able to carry 1 foot more of cash in the bed to buy groceries than the CrewCab people.
  12. Are 2019 Rangers worth anything?

At the year-end, I do a KBB estimate on my vehicles for my bookkeeping. My 2019 Lariat 4x4 SuperCab came back at roughly what I paid for it in the fall of '19. The market for used is still insane, so if you can live without it, it's a great time to sell.
  13. Are You and “In” or “Out” Guy…?

Definitely an "in". I keep my vehicles for a long time and weather here goes to extremes, so keeping it in is definitely important to me. I've got a 3-car garage with two other cars, and one of the reasons I chose a Ranger over a full-sized truck is that it would fit easily with room to spare...
  14. My long winded one year review of 5th Gen Ranger ownership

I got a shock after purchasing my Ranger in the fall of 2019 specifically for towing our travel trailer to find that Ford had issued a service memo against installing aftermarket brake controllers while not yet having a Ford-approved option available. I was not a happy camper. Fortunately, the...
  15. Is there any disadvantage to a SuperCab?

Unless you are expecting to accommodate a 3rd passenger at some point, few, if any. The B&O sound system (which is standard on the Lariat SuperCrew) is not available because there's no space for the extra speakers. I can't say I really miss it. (When I test-drove a SuperCrew with the B&O, I...
  16. Check Your Fuse #71

This is why I carry one of these, so at least I can quickly determine if the problem is with the trailer or the truck. Saves a lot of time. amazon.com/gp/product/B001EOWQY4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title
  17. So I received the magic ford email

Every new year I check the KBB value of our cars to update our books. Usually I expect several grand in depreciation. This year, my 2019 Ranger went up over $10,000, more than I paid for it over 2 years ago! (Instead of depreciating around $2,000 as expected, our 10-year-old Subaru Outback...
  18. Anyone else have one of these?

This is unusual to you? Most of the oil change places I know of you never get out of your car.
  19. Ranger compared to Subaru in snow

We have a Subaru Outback that I put snow tires on for the winter. When it's the least bit icy out, that's what we'll take. You really can't beat the combination of full-time AWD and snow tires. During winter, I usually only use my Ranger 4x4 to go skiing and leave the Subaru for my wife. I...
  20. Scary towing experience

I found that anything over 65 was uncomfortable. I now generally cruise at 60 for an extra margin. Plus, the mileage goes to hell after 55, and especially after 60.
