  1. Gas strut lbs per strut for A.R.E. truck cap/topper

Anyone know approximately how many lbs per strut I need for the back window strut on a A.R.E. CX Revo truck cap/topper? I know the window is 18" long and the strut is 12" but I'm not sure how much that back window would weigh approx? Thanks.
  2. 2019-2023 Transmission Issues

Likely needs transmission overhaul. Have them do a hydraulic pressure test on the tranny. If it fails it is likely CDF Drum and/or valve body. Your clutch rings will be all scorched and there will be metallic material in your fluid from the clutch rings as well.
  3. Happy ending to transmission problem.

Because it was in their care when it happened. What if your vehicle had been struck by another car while it was in their care? Would that be different even it it wasn't them that caused it?
  4. Two years almost to the day, transmission going to sh*t yet again

Reviewing the work order I notice there is no CDF Drum or valve body. The TSB has been updated significantly since you got the repair done. Get them to do the updated TSB that replaces the CDF Drum and Valvebody
  5. Happy ending to transmission problem.

Exactly. As vehicle was under the care of the dealership at the time, they should be the one claiming it under their insurance.
  6. Transmission starts shifting roughly, then issues go away.

The delayed reverse in cold weather is the CDF drum. You need the latest tranny TSB done. Surging at cruise speed and rough shift is likely DPFE sensor needs replacement from the factory one. If you get the part it is very easy to replace yourself. Just need the sensor but some have replaced...
  7. Possibility of aircraft part for oil drain plug valve

I looked at the valvomax one as well. Just came across the alternative one and was curious. I might just go with the aircraft one just for fun to see if it works.
  8. Possibility of aircraft part for oil drain plug valve

Would this work as an oil drain plug valve? It appears there is a M12175 stamped on it which would be the size (M12-1.75) @airline tech Saf-Air Oil Drain Valve M12175 Thanks.
  9. Best Lube for Driveshaft Splines?

Shell Rotella Special duty moly grease
  10. Another aluminum trans pan option

That is by far the most comprehensive talk I have ever heard on transmissions.
  11. 2020 Ranger XLT Transmission issues - dealer says it shifts and drives fine?

If they won't do it you should pay to have them do the hydraulic pressure test because it will fail and then they have to do it. At first they told me mine was fine then I told them to keep it overnight and try it cold in the morning with no warm up and they witnessed it right away.
  12. 2020 Ranger XLT Transmission issues - dealer says it shifts and drives fine?

That TSB will not fix your issues. You need the latest transmission TSB and there may be another one that replaces the driveshaft and the rear flange is swapped out with the one from the Tremor. There are a few threads on this. Guaranteed those driveshaft splines are near dry. Getting them...
  13. Another Ranger starting to see Trans issues

Mine was covered and so was the rental for the 3 or so days it took to fix as they had to order additional parts beyond the CDF Drum, valve body, etc. Bought the warranty for $2400 worth every penny. I always buy new and never get the warranty and sure enough first time I did I needed it.

  15. 2020 Ranger XLT Transmission issues - dealer says it shifts and drives fine?

You have 2 issues. The TSB to fix the shudder likely won't work (I have a 2020 and it didn't work for me). The issue is there is no lubrication on the driveshaft splines. I paid a mechanic about $75 CDN to do it and used special duty Molly grease. Secondly, leave the vehicle overnight and...
  16. Varying coolant levels

I think the EGR cooler is very slowly burning coolant and sending condensation to the EGR sensor. Mine was full of condensation. When I swapped it, felt like the truck had a bit more power (not alot more) and was noticeably smoother driving (I've already had the CDF Drum TSB done). Maybe it...
  17. Shake at highway and low speeds ,,minor shudder from a stop

The driveshaft splines need lubrication. I bought some special duty shell Rotella moly grease and had a mechanic lube the splines. When he opened it up he said there was almost no lubrication left from factory. Mine is a '20 with about 70k km on it. Ford has since changed the lube they use on...
  18. 2022 Ranger Transmission

You have to get them to drive it in the morning cold and not let the vehicle warm up. When I first brought it in they couldn't replicate symptoms so I told them to keep it over night and drive it in the morning with no warm up and sure enough the rough shifting presented.
  19. Extended Warranty---Buyer Beware

I always buy new vehicles and never got the warranty. The Ranger was the first ever North American vehicle (always buy Japanese) so bought the extended warranty and thank god we did. Paid $2400 for the warranty and had a $8000+ repair when the transmission got overhauled as they found some...
  20. 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat 2.3L EcoBoost 1st gear stalling/sluggish

It is likely your CDF Drum in the transmission. Just got mine essentially overhauled with the new TSB and it is now totally fine in the cold. I'm in northern Canada. If you don't do the TSB the transmission may fail prematurely.
