Can you explain this a bit more? What does it look like if you remove the step plate - more like a slider? Any pictures by chance with the step plate removed?
Anybody else having issues getting the factory installed fasteners loose? If not, how difficult was it to replace the original fasteners and is there a trick to it? Mine will not budge and I hate the thought of a service appointment for a 10 minute install.
I had similar concerns as you about color "overload" and I have a less bold color (silver). At least from my perspective, my concern was misplaced. Love my Leer and believe it actually enhances the overall look (along with rack system) of the truck. Not particularly helpful I know, just throwing...
I used this for the rear emblem. Cheap, no need to remove them, and am mostly pleased with the result.

Yeah possibly, but I'm a bad judge of before and after. The truck has always been a bit "jittery". Adding the topper certainly didn't change that and maybe made it worse. I've yet to carry some weight in the bed but when I do I'll try to note any ride differences.
I agree, the back seat is the thing I dislike the most with my Ranger. Didn't stop me from buying one, but I do miss the hard-back 60/40 split seat in my old '06 Tacoma. It really was a nice feature and my big old lab made lots of use of it heading to the duck marshes.
Blacked mine out using a vinyl overlay. Total cost $5/per. Moderately pleased with the outcome - 5 minute "install". I would've like to trim the overlay to expose the Ford script, but found it frustrating. We'll see how well it weathers...
Thanks for this. I also have a Silver Ingot and hoping to get my topper (Leer 100XL w/rack) installed next week. Nice to be able to picture the final result a bit better.
Any specific prep required - sand or primer before painting? Any tricks you learned? My grille should be here this week and considering painting silver ingot.
I found both Leer and A.R.E. websites frustrating. Guessing the Leer cap you were looking at isn't available for your bed size which is why it only gave you the one option. I ended up ordering the Leer 100XL (currently only available in the 58" size) since the equivalent A.R.E. cap was more...
May pull the trigger on a Leer 100XL, nice to know there is an option available to cover the fiberglass edge. I have a Silver XLT Sport and agree the black trim would look fine.
Still looking at toppers. Debating between an A.R.E. and a Leer. What Leer model did you end up selecting? I'd be disappointed with that rough edge as well. Your solution is a nice one.
